Tom Hanks won his first Oscar for his role in the 1993 film Philadelphia, in which he played a gay lawyer with AIDS. Speaking with The New York Times Magazine recently, the Forrest Gump actor commented on how the times have changed since then.

"Let's address 'could a straight man do what I did in 'Philadelphia' now?'" Hanks said. "No, and rightly so."

The Cast Away actor continued, "The whole point of 'Philadelphia' was don't be afraid. One of the reasons people weren't afraid of that movie is that I was playing a gay man. We're beyond that now, and I don't think people would accept the inauthenticity of a straight guy playing a gay guy."

Hanks shared that he thinks that this is a good thing. "It's not a crime, it's not boohoo that someone would say we are going to demand more of a movie in the modern realm of authenticity."

"You wouldn't cast someone able-bodied and put them in a wheelchair, you wouldn't black someone up. Authenticity is leading us to joyous places," he added.

JASON MOMOA AND EIZA GONZALEZ BREAK UP AFTER MONTHS OF DATING: People reports that Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa and Ambulance actress Eiza Gonzalez have gone their separate ways after months of dating. "Everything now depends on their behavior moving forward. Clearly, an olive branch has been extended by the royal family here. ‘THE WENDY WILLIAMS SHOW' ENDS AFTER NEARLY 14 YEARS: People reports that the final episode of The Wendy Williams Show is scheduled to air on Friday (June 17th) "with a video tribute to the iconic host"—according to a spokesperson for show. "The series comes to an end after 13 successful years in syndication," the spokesperson added. ‘SQUID GAME' REALITY SERIES TO AIR ON NETFLIX: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is producing a real-life Squid Game that has been described as "the biggest reality competition ever." Squid Game: The Challenge will feature 456 contestants competing for $4.56 million.

LADY GAGA IS IN TALKS TO STAR IN ‘JOKER: FOLIE A DEUX:' The New York Post reports that Lady Gaga might be starring opposite Joaquin Phoenix for the Joker sequel. The House of Gucci actress is in talks to play Harley Quinn, the Joker's psychiatrist who "falls in love with him and becomes his sidekick."

AMBER HEARD HAS NOT BEEN FIRED FROM ‘AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM:' Despite outlets stating otherwise, Variety reports that Amber Heard has not been cut from Aquaman 2. A spokesperson for Heard said in a statement, "The rumor mill continues as it has from day one — inaccurate, insensitive and slightly insane."

Amber Heard sat down for her first interview since the verdict was announced in Johnny Depp's defamation trial. A preview of the interview with NBC's Savannah Guthrie premiered on the Today show Monday (June 13th).

When asked about the jury's decision, Heard said, "I don't blame them. I actually understand. He's a beloved character and people feel they know him. He's a fantastic actor."

The clip also shows the Aquaman actress commenting on social media's role in the case. "I don't care what one thinks about me or what judgments you want to make about what happened in the privacy of my own home, in my marriage, behind closed doors. I don't presume the average person should know those things. And so I don't take it personally."

Heard continued, "But even somebody who is sure I'm deserving of all this hate and vitriol, even if you think that I'm lying, you still couldn't look me in the eye and tell me that you think on social media there's been a fair representation. You cannot tell me that you think that this has been fair."

The full interview is scheduled to air on Dateline NBC Friday (June 17th), but more excerpts will be shown on Tuesday's (June 14th) and Wednesday's (June 15th) episodes of the Today show.

On Monday (June 13th) the Metropolitan Police reported that House of Cards actor Kevin Spacey was formally charged with sexual assault and is expected to appear in court in London later this week.

Spacey was charged "with four counts of sexual assault against three men. He has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent," they said.

The American Beauty actor is scheduled to appear before the Westminster Magistrates Court on Thursday (June 16th).

Some people weren't happy to see Kim Kardashian wearing Marilyn Monroe's 1962 dress to this year's Met Gala, but the latest buzz about the dress is certain to ruffle feathers.

On Monday (June 13th), Pop Crave posted side-by-side photos of the dress to Twitter that were supposedly taken before Kardashian wore it and after it hit the red carpet.

The caption reads, "Marilyn Monroe's iconic dress has reportedly been damaged after being worn by Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala. The dress now shows signs of tearing, and several crystals are either missing or hanging off of it."

Kardashian told Vogue that she lost 16 pounds in order to fit into the dress. She also told the publication, "I'm extremely respectful to the dress and what it means to American history. I would never want to sit in it or eat in it or have any risk of any damage to it and I won't be wearing the kind of body makeup I usually do."

After being nominated for a Tony Award for her performance on Broadway in 2015, one might think that Orange is the New Black star Danielle Brooks was a shoo-in for the role of Sofia in The Color Purple. But it turns out that wasn't the case.

While she did eventually get the part, Brooks said it took "several months" of auditions to get there. "It's a dream come true, one that I hoped and prayed for," she told People at the 75th annual Tony Awards Sunday (June 12th).

"I knew they were doing it, and I really had to work hard to get the part, believe it or not. They had me auditioning for several months, like going into a lot of meetings with the director," she said.

Brooks added that the role is "a big torch that Oprah Winfrey was passing onto me. But it's passed on now, baby!" Winfrey starred as Sofia in the 1985 film, and she will serve as a producer on the remake.

In a Q&A with Gayle King at the Tribeca Film Festival Monday (June 13th), Tyler Perry shared his experience at the 94th annual Academy Awards. Following the infamous slap, numerous reports stated that Perry comforted Will Smith in the aftermath. However, Perry said it's a little more complicated than that.

"There is a difference between comforting and de-escalating," Perry told King, adding that he "left early to get to Chris to make sure he was okay" but that he felt empathy for Smith, too.

"I was there, close up. I left early to go and check on Chris because it was wrong in no uncertain terms and I made sure I said that to Will," the Madea's Family Reunion creator said.

Perry said that Smith "was devastated. He couldn't believe what happened. He couldn't believe he did it. And I'm looking at this man, in his eyes going, ‘What are you doing? This is your night… And to get all this way to winning an Oscar. It was one of the crowning moments of his career that he wanted so desperately."

He added that Rock "was a pure champion the way he handled it," but that "something happened that was extremely painful for Smith as well. It's no excuse, he was completely wrong, but something triggered. That was so out of everything he is."

PHILIP BAKER HALL DIES AT 90: According to The New York Post, Boogie Nights actor Philip Baker Hall passed away on Sunday (June 12th) at the age of 90. His neighbor, Los Angeles Times journalist Sam Farmer, announced the news on Twitter Monday (June 13th). "My neighbor, friend, and one of the wisest, most talented and kindest people I've ever met, Philip Baker Hall, died peacefully last night. He was surrounded by loved ones. The world has an empty space in it," he wrote. Hall appeared in a number of TV shows and movies, including Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, West Wing, Magnolia, Say Anything, and Rush Hour.

JOHN STAMOS CRITICIZES TONY AWARDS FOR NOT INCLUDING BOB SAGET IN THE ‘IN MEMORIAM' SEGMENT: Full House actor John Stamos took to Twitter on Sunday (June 12th) to call out the 2022 Tony Awards for not including his longtime friend and costar Bob Saget in their "In Memoriam" segment. PIXAR'S ‘LIGHTYEAR' BANNED IN SAUDI ARABIA DUE TO SAME-SEX KISS: Variety reports that Pixar's Lightyear has been banned from several West Asian countries including Saudi Arabia, U.A.E, and Kuwait. The film will not be shown because of a scene that involves the character Alisha, a new lesbian space ranger, greeting her partner with a kiss on the lips. The shot was originally cut by Disney, but it was later reinstated after Pixar animators criticized Disney in an open letter for asking them to cut "overtly gay affection."

MICHELLE YEOH TO STAR IN ‘THE BROTHERS SUN:' According to Deadline, Everything Everywhere All at Once actress Michelle Yeoh is set to star alongside Justin Chien in Netflix's The Brothers Sun. The series comes from American Horror Story co-creator Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu, and it follows the life of Charles Sun, a Taipei gangster.

In an unfortunate turn of events, it appears that Rebel Wilson didn't exactly come out on her own terms. While she happily introduced her girlfriend, Ramona Agruma, to the world on Thursday (June 9th), it was later revealed that an Australian newspaper was planning on outing The Hustle actress later in the week.

On Saturday (June 11th), journalist Andrew Hornery wrote an op-ed in The Sydney Morning Herald saying that he was planning on running a piece about the couple's relationship and gave Wilson two days to provide a comment. Instead, "Wilson opted to gazump the story, posting about her new 'Disney Princess'," Hornery wrote.

On Sunday (June 12th) the Pitch Perfect star replied to a fan's comment on Twitter about the situation. "So apparently it wasn't @RebelWilson 's choice to come out... The @smh / @theage have admitted to giving her a heads up 2 days in advance that they were going to ‘out' her. What's worse, openly gay men at the Sydney Morning Herald were involved in this," the fan wrote.

Wilson commented, "Thanks for your comments, it was a very hard situation but trying to handle it with grace."

Just months after being charged for a hit-and-run DUI from December of 2021, Anchorman actor David Koechner was arrested for another DUI offense in Southern Ohio.

The Saturday Night Live alum was on tour when he was arrested just before 2 a.m. on June 4th. According to TMZ, a state trooper pulled the comedian over and allegedly smelled alcohol on his breath. He was at a The Office themed trivia night earlier in the evening.

Koechner was ticketed and is expected to appear in court next month.

Paris Hilton had a tough decision to make recently. On her This is Paris podcast released Friday (June 9th), the Simple Life star said she had to choose between attending Britney Spears' wedding and DJing for a dinner hosted by President Biden. She chose Britney.

"I was actually asked to DJ for the president and all of the other presidents around the world for the dinner, but this was more important to me," Hilton said. The House of Wax actress was referring to a dinner welcoming world leaders for the ninth Summit of the Americas, hosted by President Biden.

As for Britney's wedding with Sam Asghari, Hilton said, "I'm not going to go into any details because it was the princess bride's night and that's her story to tell. But all I can say is that I'm so incredibly happy for her. She looked stunning and it just made me so happy to see that she found her fairytale."

Sandra Oh opened up about her quick rise to fame after starring in Grey's Anatomy during a recent episode of Variety's Actors on Actors series. Oh sat down with Squid Game's Jung Ho-yeon, who has also experienced widespread popularity recently.

The Killing Eve actress said the work really took a toll on her wellbeing. "Honestly, I got sick. I think my whole body was very, very sick. Even though you keep on working, but it's just like, 'Oh, I can't sleep. Oh, my back hurts, I don't know what's wrong with my skin," she said.

Oh continued, "I learned that I had to take care of my health first. But that's not only your body. That is your soul. That is definitely your mind. So even those things like doubt, question. 'Cause you can't, ultimately, depend on anyone else."

In an August 2021 interview with Willie Geist, Oh said the overwhelming recognition she got following the Grey's Anatomy success was "traumatic."

"When one loses one's anonymity, you have to build skills to still try and be real. I went from not being able to go out, like hiding in restaurants, to then being able to manage attention, manage expectation, while not losing the sense of self," she said.

Jurassic World: Dominion dominated the weekend box office, bringing in $143 million. Deadline reports that 10.8 million people went to theaters to see the movie, making it the fourth-best in terms of admission during the pandemic. The top three spots are held by Spider-Man: No Way Home at 20.6 million, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness at 14 million and Top Gun: Maverick at 11.6 million.

BILLY KAMETZ DIES AT 35: Today reports that beloved voice actor Billy Kametz passed away Thursday (June 9th) at the age of 35. Kametz was diagnosed with colon cancer in April, and news of his death was announced on his GoFundMe page. "Anyone who has met Billy Kametz will tell you he is one of the warmest, kindest, most-sincere human beings on this earth," the page said. He played Aladdin in Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular, and he voiced characters in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Pokémon Journeys, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Kametz also won best English voice acting performance at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards for his work in The Rising of the Shield Hero.

NETFLIX ANNOUNCES SECOND SEASON OF ‘SQUID GAME:' According to Deadline, Netflix revealed on Sunday (June 12th) that Squid Game would be back for a second season. In a letter to fans, director Hwang Dong-hyuk writes, "Gi-hun returns. The front man returns … The man in the suit ddakji might be back. You also will be introduced to Young-hee's boyfriend, Cheol-su."

FIFTH SEASON OF ‘CHARMED' IS CANCELLED: TVLine reports that CW has decided the fourth season of the Charmed reboot will be its last. Executive Producer Joey Falco commented on the show's ending: "Even though this show has ended, these ladies' journey doesn't end. They're still fighting. We weren't going to end with them sitting around a table reading stories to their grandkids like the original show did. The battle continues, which is where we want to leave the audience. They're still out there fighting."

JASMIN SAVOY BROWN COMMENTS ON NEVE CAMPBELL LEAVING THE ‘SCREAM' FRANCHISE: According to Variety, Jasmin Savoy Brown supports Neve Campbell's decision to walk away from Scream. "I absolutely respect her for that. I think that it's hard to be a woman in this industry and in any industry at all. If any person, but especially any woman, feels that she deserves more — whether that's a financial situation with work, out of a relationship, out of fill in the blank — if she can walk away, I support that," she said.

Rebel Wilson is celebrating this year's Pride Month in a big way! On Thursday (June 9th), The Hustle actress came out in an Instagram post, introducing Ramona Agruma as her girlfriend.

Wilson posted a photo of the two together and captioned the post, "I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince… but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess #loveislove." She also added a couple of heart emojis and a rainbow emoji.

Last month, the Pitch Perfect star told People that she was set up "through a friend." She told the publication, "We spoke on the phone for weeks before meeting. And that was a really good way to get to know each other. It was a bit old-school in that sense — very romantic."

Following multiple arrests in Hawaii, The Flash actor Ezra Miller is now being accused of exhibiting a "pattern of corrupting a minor."

Chase Iron Eyes and his wife Sara Jumping Eagle claim that Miller groomed their child, Gibson, starting from the age of 12. They say Miller allegedly drugged Gibson and that the Fantastic Beasts actor showed "cult-like and psychologically manipulative, controlling behavior."

Earlier in the week, a judge signed a protective order at Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Court, but the court "cannot locate or serve" Miller. Sara said their child is "basically brainwashed."

However, the 18-year-old took to Instagram recently to deny their parents' claims, adding that Miller "has only provided loving support and invaluable protection."

"I am now aware of the severity of emotional and psychological manipulation I was made to endure while in my parents home. I am an adult and I deserve to feel authority in my own body," they wrote.

In a follow-up video posted on Thursday (June 9th), Gibson added, "This is my life. These are my decisions. And I'm disappointed in my parents and the press in every way. Thank you."

In a clip from the Netflix special Dirty Daddy: The Bob Saget Tribute, John Stamos reads aloud the final texts he received from his longtime friend and Full House costar Bob Saget.

Stamos begins by saying, "I'm going to read my last text from Bob."

The messages start out sweet. "It said, ‘I love you so much. I will say that God gave me the brother that I wanted.'"

The Big Shot actor replied, "Well, you have a lot of ‘God-given brothers,' but I'm first, right?"

Saget responded, "John Mayer's an amazing friend, but he's more fair-weather. You are always there, so you're number one." Mayer is onstage with Stamos when he reads the text exchange, and he lets out a laugh.

Dirty Daddy: The Bob Saget Tribute will begin streaming on Netflix on Friday (June 10th).

On the most recent episode of The Kardashians, Kim Kardashian shared one of her favorite memories with Pete Davidson. While in the Dominican Republic for her Sports Illustrated cover shoot, she told her friends that the comedian is "really thoughtful."

"Pete is such a good, good person. I can't even explain it. He just has the best heart and always thinks of the small things," she said during a confessional.

Then she told a cute story that apparently also put her in the mood. "One time, Pete was like, 'Babe, let's go get some ice cream at Thrifty.' And I was like, 'Oh my god, you are making me so f**king horny.' Rite Aid? Thrifty? It was literally one of the best nights of my life," she said.

Earlier in the episode, ice cream came up again, as a flight attendant informed Kardashian that Davidson had surprised her with some Dibs.

"These are my favorite. We went to the movies in Staten Island and all I wanted was Dibs. I'm obsessed with Dibs. You can only get them in, like, gas stations these days," she said, smiling.

Shortly after announcing that more of his babies are on the way, Nick Cannon appeared in a Father's Day ad for Ryan Reynolds' Aviation American Gin company. In the commercial, the Wild ‘N Out star makes a drink called "the Vasectomy."

Cannon jokes, "It's almost Father's Day and the one and only Ryan Reynolds asked me to help us all celebrate with the mother of all cocktails, the Vasectomy. Lord knows I need one."

Reynolds posted the ad to Instagram with the caption, "Congrats to @nickcannon! Also apologies to @nickcannon. While delicious, the Aviation Vasectomy is clearly not yet 100% effective."

ROBERT DE NIRO ADMITS HE MIGHT BE A SWITFTIE: According to Vanity Fair, Robert De Niro recently told Variety that he's a little bit of a Taylor Swift fan. "I have all of her albums," he joked. "I'm not not a fan. I probably hear her music and like it on the radio. My young daughter puts a station on, and it drives me crazy when they chat. When they have music, it's OK," the Goodfellas actor said.

CHRIS PRATT JOKES THAT HE FINALLY LEARNED HOW TO SPELL ‘SCHWARZENEGGER:' Entertainment Tonight reports that Jurassic World: Dominion star Chris Pratt appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live Wednesday (June 8th) and joked that he finally knows how to spell his wife Katherine's last name. "I've learned now. It's a long name," he said. Pratt and Schwarzenegger have two daughters together, Lyla Maria Schwarzenegger Pratt and Eloise Christina Schwarzenegger Pratt. "There's a lot of letters in these children's names," he said. CAMILLE VAZQUEZ CALLS JOHNNY DEPP ROMANCE RUMORS ‘SEXIST:' According to Page Six, Johnny Depp's lawyer, Camille Vazquez, feels the rumors floating around that she and the Pirates of the Caribbean actor are romantically involved are "sexist." Vazquez said recently, "I care very deeply about my clients, and we have obviously become close.
