Bruce Willis Retires From Acting After Being Diagnosed With Aphasia

Bruce Willis has retired from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia, a medical condition that can affect a person's ability to speak, write and understand language.

The 67-year-old star's family members, including both his wife, Emma Herming and his ex-wife, Demi Moore, posted the announcement to Instagram Wednesday (March 30th).

The family wrote, "To Bruce's amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.

"This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him."

The post, which was also signed by Willis' daughters Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel and Evelyn, concluded with, "As Bruce always says, 'Live it up' and together we plan to do just that."

According to a report published by the Los Angeles Times on Wednesday, rumors had been swirling about the action star's decline in recent years. The outlet reports that while working on recent projects - 22 in the last four years - Willis' lines were fed to him through an earpiece and his action scenes, especially those where his character was required to handle a gun, were filmed using a body double.

Lala Kent, who starred in the film Hard Kill with Willis in January 2020 says that while shooting a scene, the Pulp Fiction star kept firing a weapon at the wrong time, leaving her unable to duck.

Despite his recent troubles, former costars paid tribute to The Sixth Sense actor on social media.

Sarah Paulson wrote on Rumer Willis' Instagram post, "He was such an incredible acting partner to me, and is the loveliest, most gentle and hilarious man. he reigns supreme in my book," and M. Chris Rock Addresses The Slap Hours After The Academy Announces Disciplinary Proceedings For Will Smith

Chris Rock briefly addressed the Will Smith slap during his Boston comedy show, just hours after the Academy revealed that disciplinary proceedings have begon for the Best Actor winner.

According to TMZ, when Rock took the stage at the Wilbur theater Wednesday (March 30th) night, he was greeted by a standing ovation from a sold-out crowd. However, the comedian was prepared to disappoint anyone who showed up to hear about the Oscar incident.

He said, "I don't have a bunch of s*** about what happened, so if you came to hear that, I have a whole show I wrote before this weekend. I'm still kind of processing what happened," adding, "So, at some point, I'll talk about that s***. And it will be serious and funny."

Although Rock was not yet prepared to discuss the incident, Oscar co-host Wanda Sykes told Ellen Degeneres on Wednesday that the incident was "gross" and that she was "still traumatized" by it.

Sykes said, "For them to let him stay in that room and enjoy the rest of the show and accept his award…. I was like, ‘How gross is this? This is just the wrong message. You assault somebody, you get escorted out of the building, and that's it. But for them to let him continue, I thought it was gross. I wanted to be able run out after he won and say, ‘Unfortunately, Will couldn't be here tonight…'

Deadline reports that a member of the Academy's top leadership did ask the King Richard star's rep to have him leave the awards show.

The Academy said of the incident, "While we would like to clarify that Mr. Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and refused, we also recognize we could have handled the situation differently."

The outlet also reports that disciplinary proceedings have begun for the former Fresh Prince. The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Scientists' Board of Governors ruled Wednesday (March 30th), "At the next board meeting on April 18, the Academy may take any disciplinary action, which may include suspension, expulsion, or other sanctions permitted by the Bylaws and Standards of Conduct."

Smith will be given "the opportunity to be heard beforehand by means of a written response."

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck hit the batting cages for date night Tuesday (March 29th).

An eyewitness told E! News the pair arrived at the Los Angeles batting cages together and rented out bats and gloves. Although the Tender Bar actor didn't take a turn at bat, the source said that he did watch Lopez "with a happy smile" as she was seen "trying to hit a ball but without any luck."

On Tuesday (March 29th), Jada Pinkett Smith broke her silence for the first time since her husband, Will Smith, slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars.

The Red Table Talk host posted text embedded in a pink box that read, "THIS IS A SEASON FOR HEALING AND I'M HERE FOR IT."

The infamous slap was unpacked by many in Hollywood Monday (March 28th), and that evening, Smith apologized to Rock via Instagram.

Jim Carrey had a lot to say about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars on a CBS Mornings interview Tuesday (March 29th). The Dumb & Dumber actor said he was "sickened by the standing ovation" that Smith got following the incident.

"I'd have announced this morning that I was suing Will for $200 million because that video is going to be there forever, it's going to be ubiquitous," he added.

Carrey continued, "That insult is gonna last a very long time. If you want to yell from the audience and show disapproval or say something on Twitter , that's OK, but you do not have the right to walk up onstage and smack somebody in the face ‘cuz they said words."

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Monday (March 28th), Ahmir "Questlove" Khalib Thompson commented on accepting the award for Best Documentary for Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) right after the incident occurred.

"Of course, that happened in the cyclone of a whole other situation with two very good friends of mine. I really wasn't aware of that. It's weird to say, because they tell you ahead of time, 'This is your category,' so in that moment, you're either going to be full of anxiety or, for me, I've been meditating for the last two years," Questlove said.

He continued, "So when I opened my eyes, I was like, 'Why is everyone so quiet?' I literally was not present for that whole entire moment. As I'm walking to the stage, I'm kind of putting two and two together, and I realize that that was a real moment maybe three seconds before I spoke words. But in my mind they're just doing a sketch or whatever and I'm like, 'OK, Ahmir, remember to thank your mom, dad,' so I was not present at all."

On Tuesday (March 29th), Zoe Kravitz posted a photo of herself in the beautiful pink Saint Laurent dress she wore at the Oscars. She captioned the photo with a pointed remark, "here's a picture of my dress at the show where we are apparently assaulting people on stage now."

Will Smith's mother, Carolyn Bright, told 6ABC Philadelphia that her son "is a very even people person and that's the first time I've ever seen him go off, the first time in his life … I've never seen him do that," she said.

The Flash star Ezra Miller was arrested at a bar in Hawaii just after midnight on Monday (March 28th). They were charged with disorderly conduct and harassment after lashing out at people who were singing karaoke.

The Hawaii Police Department report reads, "Ezra Miller, became agitated while patrons at the bar began singing karaoke." The statement continues, "Miller began yelling obscenities and at one point grabbed the microphone from a 23-year-old woman singing karaoke (disorderly conduct offense) and later lunged at a 32-year-old man playing darts (harassment offense).The bar owner asked Miller to calm down several times to no avail."

Miller told GQ in 2020 that they use they/them pronouns and offered a "pointed refusal to be gendered or identified in any category."

Bail was set at $500, which they posted.

CODA And Dune Win Big At The Oscars, Will Smith And Chris Rock Get Censored

The 94th Academy Awards, Hollywood's big night returned on Sunday night (3-27).

CODA, won all three of its nominations for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor, which went to Troy Kotsur.

Out of ten nods, Dune took home six Oscars, including Best Cinematography, Visual Effects and Best Production Design. Jane Campion won Best Director for Power of The Dog.

There were plenty of funny moments and jabs to the audience by hosts Amy Schumer, Regina Hall, and Wanda Sykes who seamlessly steered the evening.

Chris Rock will be remembered for taking a joke too far about Will Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett. While Chris Rock was still talking, Will walked up to the stage and pretended to hit him. At first it seemed scripted, until he sat back down and the show was muted while he seemed to cuss at Chris Rock from his seat.

Later, during Will Smith's acceptance speech for Best Actor, he acknowledged what happened. He talked about how his character in King Richard protected women. And in tears, he said, "I want to be an ambassador of that kind of love and concern." He then apologized to the Academy and his fellow nominees.

Jessica Chastain won an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role for The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

There were several highlights including a salute to the 50th anniversary of The God Father. Francis Ford Coppola made a speech with Al Pacino, and Robert De Niro at his side. There were also mentions of, and some wore blue ribbons in support of Ukraine throughout the evening.

Billie Eilish with her brother Finneas won Best Song for "No Time To Die." They also performed along with other nominees Beyoncé, Reba McEntire, and Sebastián Yatra.

Keeping in-step with shows in the past… the even ran 3 and a half hours long.

Sean Penn had a very clear message for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences on Saturday (March 26th). He told CNN's Jim Acosta that if the Academy Awards doesn't include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he will smelt the two Oscars he won for Best Actor in Mystic River and Milk.

"If it turns out to be what is happening, I would encourage everyone involved, though it may be their moment, and I understand that, to celebrate their films, it is so much more importantly their moment to shine, and to protest and to boycott that Academy Awards," the I Am Sam actor said.

"I myself, if it comes back to it, when I return, I will smelt mine in public. I pray that's not what happens. I pray there have not been arrogant people who consider themselves representatives of the greater good who have decided not to check in with leadership in Ukraine. So I'm going to hope that's not what happened, and I hope everyone walks out if it is," he said.

Penn is working on a documentary for Vice about the war in Ukraine. He also met with Zelenskyy last week.

Celebrities React To Will Smith Slapping Chris Rock At The Oscars

Celebrities took to social media last night to react to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 94th annual Academy Awards after the comedian made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Rock joked about Jada doing a sequel to the 1997 film G.I. Jane. Pinkett-Smith has been open about her struggle with alopecia.

As a result of the joke, Smith walked up to the stage and slapped Rock. A stunned Rock said, "Will Smith just smacked the sh*t out of me." Smith replied, "Keep my wife's name out your fu**in' mouth!" Rock responded, "Wow, dude. It was a G.I. Jane joke." Smith responded "Keep my wife's name out your fu**in' mouth."

Smith later went on to win his first Oscar for Best Actor for his role as Richard Williams in King Richard. He apologized for the slap during his speech.

The Academy later released a statement on the incident, saying, "The Academy does not condone violence of any form. Tonight we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world."

CHRIS ROCK WON'T PRESS CHARGES AGAINST WILL SMITH

Meanwhile, according to The LAPD, Chris Rock has "declined to file a police report" for the incident. According to Variety, the LAPD said in a statement, "LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program. The incident involved one individual slapping another. The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report."

In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Dancing with the Stars pro Sharna Burgess said she was afraid to tell Brian Austin Green that she was pregnant. Burgess relayed that the 90210 star was watching a Lakers game when she took a pregnancy test and found out the news.

"I was like, ‘What am I gonna do?' I can't tell him now. This is terrible news while the Lakers are losing," she told the publication.

"So I waited for 40 minutes. And he came in like, ‘Big day. The Lakers came back and they won.' And I was like, ‘It's about to get bigger. You're probably gonna need to sit down for this.'"

Burgess added that she was "scared at the time" because they were "relatively new as a couple." But, she added, he just gave her a hug and said, "That's awesome."

Tracy Morgan's Eight-Year-Old Daughter, Maven, Performs Her Own Stand-Up At Radio City Music Hall

Former Saturday Night Live star Tracy Morgan made a surprise visit to Radio City Music Hall recently during a rehearsal for Madison Square Garden's upcoming "Garden of Dreams Talent Show."

A source told Page Six that "Tracy got a huge ovation" from the 65 kids who were rehearsing—and their parents. "He sat down with a few Rockettes to watch some of the children rehearse their dance, rap and singing acts."

The source added, "Tracy was with his 8-year-old daughter, Maven, who asked to come up at the end to tell a few jokes to the crowd. Maven picked up the mike and — just like her dad — ripped off some jokes and told a funny story! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

Morgan is a board member for Madison Square Garden's Garden of Dreams Foundation.
