Happy 55th Birthday, Billy Corgan!!!

Happy Birthday to Smashing Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan, who turns 55 today (March 17th)!!! Corgan will always be best remembered for writing the Pumpkins' string of classics including "Today," "1979," "Tonight, Tonight," "Bullet With Butterfly Wings," "Zero," and "Siva," among many others.

Corgan and the band will be heading out for an extended spring run next month, kicking things off on April 30th at Memphis' Beale Street Music Festival and playing through May 29th when the band hits Chillicothe, Illinois' Summer Camp Music Festival.

Smashing Pumpkins released its last album, Cyr, on November 27th, 2020. The set peaked at Number 10 on Billboard's Top Rock Albums chart.

Billy Corgan explained that the last thing he ever wanted was for the Pumpkins to reunite and be viewed as a nostalgia act: "To go back under the Smashing Pumpkins name engendered a lot of people expecting us to be nothing more than a reunion band, playing its greatest hits, and with a fan base not particularly keen to listen to the new music. What I try to tell people that get caught up in the reunion kind of concepts -- like where are the original members and stuff like this -- the band was founded on an idea that it must be progressive and it must always be moving forward."

Bryan Adams Becomes One Man Band On New Album

Bryan Adams' newly released album, So Happy It Hurts, was really a case of turning lemons into lemonade. When the Canadian rocker was sidelined mid-tour by the pandemic, he focused on what would become his 15th studio set and rolled up his sleeves and got to work.

Although Adams is used to bringing his bandmates into the studio, due to the circumstances, he found himself having to wear nearly all the musical hats this time out: "When the whole thing came down and we couldn't work anymore, without skipping a beat I just went right into working on songs and it came together quite quickly. But I only did it in a way. . . 'Cause I didn't know what was gonna happen. I didn't know that I wasn't gonna be able to record with my band. I didn't know I wasn't going to be able to go into the studio. It was still early days in the Covid lockdown. And suddenly the realization was, 'Well, you're not going to be able to.' So, I decided that I would just do as much of it as I could myself. So the instruments on the record are all recorded by me."

Brian Adams is currently on tour in Europe and performs tonight (March 16th) in Munich, Germany at Olympiahalle.

Christina Aguilera To Headline LA Pride

Christina Aguilera announced Tuesday morning (March 15th) that she'll be headlining LA Pride this summer.

She shared the news on Twitter, adding "Join me at the official #LAPrideinthePark music event Saturday, June 11, at LA State Historic Park, a nonprofit event benefiting the LGBTQIA+ community."

According to LA Pride, she will be joined by a "diverse lineup of talent across multiple stages." Additional acts will be announced at a later date.

Duran Duran Announces North American Tour

Duran Duran have just announced a 14-date North American tour in support of their latest album, 2021's critically accalimned Future Past. The trek sees the 2022 Rock Hall nominees kicking things off on August 19th in Welch, Minnesota's Treasure Island Amphitheater will wrap over three nights -- September 9th, 10th, and 11th -- at L.A.' s legendary Hollywood Bowl.

Old friend and frequent producer Nile Rodgers & Chic will serve as the opener in most cities. Public on sale is set for Friday, March 25th at 10 a.m. local venue time with the exception of Madison Square Garden (NY) and Footprint Center (AZ), which will go on sale at NOON local venue time.

Tune in tonight (March 16th) when the band appears on CBS' The Late Late Show With James Corden. Check your local listings for stations and times.

2021 marked the 40th anniversary of Duran Duran's self-titled debut album. A while back, Nick Rhodes told us the band's longevity still boggles his mind: "It seems completely surreal. None of us feel like we've spent three-and-a-half decades in the music business. We still play some songs off that album, off the first album. With the band we all remain very proud of what we've been able to do creatively in the studio -- and for the live shows. It's still, to me, exactly the same as it was when we started out in one way; is that a great song does more for an artist than anything else."

Bassist John Taylor admitted to us that Duran Duran remains a one-of-a-kind chemistry: "The kind of fortune that Duran Duran was sort of happens once in a lifetime, really. It's just like kids that come together that happen to, like, be into the same thing -- just happen to go to the right place, the right time, meet Mr. Big and da-da-da-da. Suddenly, it's a snowball effect."

JUST ANNOUNCED: Duran Duran with Nile Rodgers & Chic tour dates (subject to change):

August 19 - Welch, MN - Treasure Island Amphitheater
August 20 - Chicago, IL - United Center
August 22 - Toronto, ON - Budweiser Stage
August 23 - Washington, D.C. - Merriweather Post Pavilion

August 26 - Columbus, OH - WonderBus Music & Arts Festival
(Duran Duran only)
August 30 - Fort Worth, TX - Dickies Arena
September 1, 3 - Las Vegas, NV - Wynn Las Vegas (Duran Duran only)
September 4 - San Francisco, CA - Chase Center
September 7 - Phoenix, AZ - Footprint Center

September 9, 10, 11 - Los Angeles, CA - Hollywood Bowl (Duran Duran only)

Graham Nash Releasing Live Set Of First Two Solo Albums

Set for release on May 6th is Graham Nash: Live, according to Best Classic Bands. The set is culled from four 2019 concerts where he performed his first two solo sets -- his 1971's Songs For Beginners and its 1974 followup, Wild Tales in their entirety. Backing Nash on the collection are his longtime touring companions -- guitarist Shane Fontayne and keyboardist Todd Caldwell.

Graham Nash: Live was mixed by Grammy Award winner Kevin Killen and mastered by Grammy Award winner Bob Ludwig.

Nash spoke about the new album explaining, "All the things we stood for, that love is better than hatred, that peace is better than war, that we have to take care of our fellow human beings, because that's all we have on this planet – those things are still true today. I need to know that I've brought something into the world that was positive and not negative."

Back in 2019, when announcing the solo album shows, Nash posted, "The experience of revisiting the music I made almost 50 years ago, live in front of an audience, gives me the chance to actually play the songs as was envisioned those many years ago. Each 'side' of the album was programmed as a short 20-minute suite, a musical journey to be taken not really knowing or caring where that journey would take the listener. I look forward to rediscovering my music and sharing it with the audience."

Graham Nash, who's currently back on the road with Shane Fontayne and Todd Caldwell, told us that he's long ago set his ego aside to create the best show possible for both the casual and die-hard fan: "The ticket prices are exorbitant nowadays, y'know? And it's hard to earn a dollar. So we want to give as much value as we can. So instead of saying, 'Well, y'know, I don't wanna do 'Our House,' its so old; I'll do 'Our House' at the drop of a hat, because y'know what? It makes people feel good -- and what's the price of that?"

The tracklisting to 'Graham Nash: Live' is:

"Military Madness"
"Better Days"
"Wounded Bird"
"I Used To Be A King"
"Be Yourself"
"Simple Man"
"Man In The Mirror"
"There's Only One"
"Sleep Song"
"Chicago/We Can Change The World"
"Wild Tales"
"Hey You (Looking At The Moon)"
"Prison Song"
"You'll Never Be The Same"
"And So It Goes"
"Grave Concern"
"Oh Camil (The Winter Soldier)"
"I Miss You"
"On The Line"
"Another Sleep Song"

Nancy Wilson Salutes Dolly Parton For Rock Hall Bow Out

Heart's Nancy Wilson took time out to salute country legend Dolly Parton for asking to be pulled out of the running for induction into this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Wilson, along with the rest of Heart, was finally inducted into the Hall of Fame back in 2013 and while appearing on L.A. radio station KLOS, she commended Parton for opting out of the honor. Blabbermouth transcribed some of the chat, which had Wilson saying, "How classy. . . It's really cool for her to step down like that, because the category is so broad. Like, Dionne Warwick is not a rock performer, and a lot of them are not, and they should make different categories under the bigger Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame moniker. They should have a Country Hall Of Fame and a Pop Hall Of Fame and a Rap Hall Of Fame and a Rock Hall Of Fame. I think that would be really smart, if they started to do that. 'Cause I've gotta vote for it, like, tomorrow."

Regarding the blending of the genres that seem to comprise what "rock n' roll" is considered, Wilson admitted, "It's really tough because Lionel Richie is in there. If you try to narrow it to what really is rock, it excludes too many others. So I think she's really a class act to have done that. It makes me wanna write a rock record with her. . . I should give her a call. She can do anything. She's written some of the best songs in our history. She can do it."

Source: Kanye West Has Pushed Pete Davidson To His Limit

Reports say that Kanye West has pushed Pete Davidson to his limit and that's why he sent him a text message asking Ye to stop publicly bashing Kim Kardashian. A source told US Weekly, "Pete stepped in because he couldn't take seeing Kanye continue to throw Kim under the bus anymore. He truly wants a one-on-one talk with Kanye and wants it to be handled privately..."

The source continued, "Pete and Kim continue to get harassed, and Pete's had enough of seeing Kim being made out to be the villain. Pete didn't want to text Kanye, but he was pushed to the limit."

Dua Lipa Sets 'Billboard' Record With Levitating

Nirvana, Pearl Jam, & Soundgraden The Hottest Collectibles On The Market

Only 30 years on since breaking on the scene, the grunge revolution headed up by Nirvana and Pearl Jam has all but cornered the rock collectible market.

Famed Los Angeles record store owner Wayne Johnson of Rockaway Records in Silverlake is one of rock's busiest and knowledgeable collectors and told us that the 1990's are the new 1960's for rock memorabilia: "It kinda reminds me how quick Beatles, and (Rolling) Stones, and Elvis (Presley) sold back 30, 40 years ago. I just can't keep it in stock. And Pearl Jam is only number two for collectibles; a Nirvana collection would even do better. I'm paying ridiculous money for stuff and it seems like there's no limit. They're stuff is going up quicker than just about anybody. Y'know, grunge -- and punk stuff is doing real well, too. The punk stuff is going up crazy, as well. Soundgraden, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana -- I think they're the big four."

The guys at Rockaway Records are actively seeking new archives from diehards and casual fans alike, with many people actually completely unaware of the virtual goldmine they might be sitting on: "Right now the collectibles market is probably the best I've seen in over 40 years. We're selling stiff so fast now that I'm desperate for high quality collections -- and will pay big, big money for the right stuff. And a lot of people think that, 'Hey -- I'll do better (selling) on eBay, why should I sell to a dealer?' That's not always the best way to go, auctions. I mean, sometimes it is and if somebody has something I think will do better in an auction house, I'm gonna tell 'em so."

Nirvana Deep Cut Hits Rock Chart Following Release Of 'The Batman'

Thanks to its placement in the movie, The Batman, a 30 year old deep cut by Nirvana has made its way onto the rock charts.

According to Billboard, "Something in the Way" earned 3.1 million on-demand official U.S. streams in the first four days of the movie's release. It's also on several Billboard charts, including # 6 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, #20 on the Digital Song Sales chart… And it's #27 on the Billboard Streaming Songs chart. Director Matt Reeves says he listened to a lot of Nirvana music while making the movie and says that Bruce Wayne and Kurt Cobain were similar, because both were addicts.

"Something in the Way" appears twice in the film and was used in one of the first trailers. It's from Nirvana's album, Nevermind.

The Rolling Stones Announce Spring European Tour

The Rolling Stones are heading back on the road for their European "Stones 60" tour. The 14-stadium run will kick off on June 1st in Madrid, Spain and play through July 31st in Stockholm, Sweden. The band will also perform open air shows in Germany, England, Austria, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Italy.

The Stones' June 9th concert at Liverpool's Anfield Stadium marks not only their first stadium show in the Beatles' hometown -- but their first Liverpool gig in 51 years.

Mick Jagger explained what needs to be taken into account when playing a stadium-type show: "Really, when you go to a big, uh, stadium show, the people that go -- the punters, as we call them -- are not really just going to hear some pristine music. It's just sort of all-'round experience. It's halfway between going to a football match and, y'know, a music show. So, it's. . . You're really looking for -- you want something to enhance the experience visually, to amplify and enhance the experience. Musicians think that's all that people want, but, I mean, I don't take their view."

Keith Richards told us that the energy created by the Stones' live shows has always been a reflection of what's been going down in front of them on stage: "They create (laughs) pandemonium, excitement on stage. It's a two-way thing. When you get up there, you realize the only difference is that you're what they're looking at -- otherwise you're all in it together."

Guitarist Ron Wood told us that at this point -- with decades of classic songs and dozens of tours under their belt -- the Stones are clearly sailing in uncharted waters: "We notice that we're cutting new ground, y'know, in that no bunch of guys have ever stuck together this long in the rock n' roll field."

Page Six reports that the pop star wrote in the now-deleted post, "The first day my dad became a conservator I will never forget !!! He said sit down in that chair … we're going to have a talk."

She continued, "He said ‘I'm Britney Spears and I call the shots from now on' and ever since that day I felt a huge part of my womanhood stripped from me … I was never the same."

John Mayer Says Playing 'Neon' Is The 'One Freako Thing' He Can Do

John Mayer explained on stage Sunday (March 13th) that he feels bad because "Neon" has become "like a TikTok trick shot video challenge song."

He attempted to put out a tutorial for the song on social media but admitted during his stop at the Los Angeles Forum that it's "a little bit of a circus trick."

Mayer can be heard saying in a YouTube clip shared by Gummy Visuals, "I feel bad because I have thumbs like a mile long. You know, like, the kid in school who could turn his eyelids inside out? That's sort of what this is. It's this one freako thing that I can do."

Machine Gun Kelly's Album Art Is Compared To Japanese Breakfast's 'Jubilee'

Machine Gun Kelly shared the artwork for his forthcoming album, Mainstream Sellout, on Monday (March 15th) and fans and journalists immediately likened the images to Japanese Breakfast's Jubilee.

Michelle Zauner jokingly tweeted that it's "2022's feud of the year" before defending the "Emo Girl" singer to Pitchfork. She told the publication, "I don't actually think it looks anything like my album cover at all," she said, "but I think it's very funny that Rolling Stone put up an article about it just because there's a circular fruit in the foreground. I mean his is people throwing tomatoes at him, and mine is persimmons peacefully hanging around me, so I think they're very different concepts."

MGK replied to her tweet, writing, "so should we beef over tomato's or…should i thank them for introducing me to your album, because i just listened and i really like it."

The rocker also shared the tracklist for his Mainstream Sellout on Monday (March 15th), revealing several collaborations. The 16-track album will feature Bring Me The Horizon, Lil Wayne, Pete Davidson, Blackbear, Willow, Iann Dior, Gunna and Young Thug.

Nicki Minaj Reveals Why She Pulled Her Verse Off Of Coi Leray's New Song

Nicki Minaj has revealed why she initially pulled her verse off of Coi Leray's new single "Blick Blick." She revealed via Instagram, "Verse of the year is LOADING." When a fan wrote, "This is the first time in a while I saw Nicki hype up her own verse. Omg, I'm excited." Nicki responded, "Right. I said the same thing to Republic. I normally don't love my verse on anything. I'm always still making changes in my head."

She also talked about receiving multiple requests for features, saying, "I had gotten six different feature requests & it was really just the song itself that made me choose. I couldn't get Coi verse out of my head. I just loved all her choices. And someone I know well confirmed she really writes her stuff, so I respected her more."

She added, "Just like w|bia… loved every single choice she made on WLM. I love these unique girls. But keep in mind, I'm just a rap fan like everybody else. Even with my own verses, what I love may not be what you love. And that's ok."

She was also asked why she pulled the song after Coi's father Benzino had announced the collaboration prematurely, saying, "I did pull it. pink pow emoji but the label hit me going hard. But rlly I had a private convo w|coi & that's what changed my mind. Not the label. I just felt bad that she was robbed of telling the world in her own way @ her own time. But that's water under the bridge now. Good vibes all 2022."

Pearl Jam Rolls Out Spring And Fall Tour Dates

Pearl Jam has just rolled out a string of spring and fall arena shows, which serve as the reschedule dates for their scrapped 2020 tour. The spring leg kicks off on May 3rd at San Diego's Viejas Arena before winding down on May 20th at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena. The band's fall run begins on September 1st in Quebec City at Videotron Centre and wraps on September 22nd at Denver's Ball Arena.

Guitarist Stone Gossard told us why he thinks Pearl Jam remains strong after 30 years together: "I mean, I think we all really respect each other. We've been together long enough that we know how lucky we are to be in this position. So I think there's a lot of gratitude in the band and a lot of like, when we show up together we're like, 'Wow, we have our own warehouse and we get to plug in our amps and we're gonna write some new songs and somebody cares about it and, y'know, we're gonna put a record out and we sold some tickets and . . . ' I mean, these things are not just things we take for granted, because we're totally aware of how fortunate we are."

Bassist Jeff Ament told us a while back that even with several decades under its belt, the band is still eager to explore new sounds: "We wanted to be a band that could really dip our toes into a lot of different styles. And I think we're there and we still know that there's more that we could do. There's still some areas that we can get into."
