Gem of the Ocean
Chattanooga Theatre Centre: Set in 1904 Pittsburgh as tension boils and its population grows impatient with poor working and housing conditions, this is a story of people struggling to find the meaning of freedom in an environment eager to keep the shackles locked. The CTC has made a 10-year commitment to produce August Wilson’s American Century Cycle, which focuses on the African-American experience in each decade of the 20th Century. Presented in the Circle Theatre. Rated PG-13. January 24 – February 9

Get to Know Your Park
New year has begun, so why not get to know the park a little better? This is an opportunity for an intro to TN State Parks. This program will be led by a Ranger so come with any questions you might have. This is a great way to expand your knowledge of Hiwassee/Ocoee Rivers State Park and maybe meet some new people who enjoy the park just as much as you do! Meet at the Gee Creek Office. Sandhill Crane Expedition
Explore the annual winter sandhill crane migration with expert naturalist Dr. David Aborn. We’ll start at Reflection Riding our wildlife sanctuary where you will see our cranes up close, then we’ll carpool to the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge (about an hour away) to see thousands in the wild. Tennessee Ornithological Society members will be on hand with spotting scopes. This will be a unique learning and photography opportunity. No prior experience necessary. Tickets: $15 January 25, 2020 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Teacher Appreciation day at the Tennessee Aquarium
