Let’s honor our Vietnam veterans!
Congress may have made Wednesday “Vietnam Veterans Appreciation Day,” but we love that our city is celebrating veterans all week with a wonderful series of events. If you haven’t seen “We are Soldiers,” get to the Tivoli this morning at 10:30 or this afternoon at 1:30 or 4:30 for a FREE showing of this incredibly powerful movie based on the writings of Joe Galloway about the Nov. 14, 1965 Battle of la Drang in South Vietnam. After each viewing, a panel of survivors will share memories and answer questions.
Then at 6 tomorrow evening you recognize the fallen at a candlelight ceremony at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
And if you see a Vietnam vet in Chattanooga this week, how about thanking him for his service and asking him to share his story — we’re sure it will be a powerful reminder of the sacrifices so many made for our freedom.
