Man Who Threw Subway Sandwich At ICE Agent Acquitted Of Assault

Sean Dunn was found not guilty of assault after throwing a Subway sandwich at Customs and Border Protection agent Greg Lairmore during federal law enforcement operations in Washington, DC. Video evidence showed Dunn yelling at officers before hurling the sandwich and running away. He told police in body camera footage, “I was trying to draw them away from where they were. I succeeded.” Defense attorney Sabrina Shroff argued the wrapped sandwich could not cause bodily harm, stating “A footlong from Subway could not and certainly did not inflict bodily harm.” Officer Lairmore testified the sandwich “exploded” on his chest, leaving “smells of onions and mustard,” though colleagues gave him gag gifts including a “felony footlong” patch afterward. Dunn lost his Justice Department job following the incident, with the firing announced by the attorney general. (Story URL)
