Flight Grounded In Aruba After Rat Discovered Mid-Flight

A KLM flight from Amsterdam to Aruba was forced to ground upon arrival December 10th after passengers spotted a rat in the cabin while flying over the ocean. The pilot could not turn back or make an emergency landing because the aircraft was already above water when the rodent was discovered. The flight was originally scheduled to continue from Aruba to Bonaire before returning to Amsterdam, but KLM canceled the return journey. “This was a very exceptional incident. The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew are always our top priority,” a KLM rep said. The airline provided overnight accommodations for stranded passengers and arranged alternative flights the following day. The aircraft underwent thorough cleaning before returning to service.
