Man Paints Fence To Look Like Boat In Malicious Compliance
Etienne Constable was asked to put up a six-foot fence to conceal his boat…so he painted a boat on the fence. The Seaside, California resident was told last July that he had to install a fence so neighbors couldn’t see his watercraft. Constable followed the rules and, in an act of malicious compliance, had local artist Hanif Panni paint a realistic mural of the driveway, including the boat. “I’m not a rule-breaker but I like to make a political statement as necessary as well as a humorous statement and a creative statement,” Constable said. Since the image has gone viral, Panni has had other boat owners ask him for similar murals. (NBC News)
