World’s Most Expensive Cheese Auctioned for $42,232

A 10-month cave-aged Cabrales cheese from Spain’s Ángel Díaz Herrero cheese factory set a Guinness World Record by selling at auction for $42,232. The Regulatory Council DOP Cabrales in Asturias, Spain facilitated the sale to restaurant El Llagar de Colloto. Guinness World Records recognized this dairy product as the priciest cheese ever auctioned. The cheese gained attention after winning the title of “Best Cheese of the Competition” from the Regulatory Council DOP Cabrales. Weighing 5 pounds, this costly cheese was produced using cow’s milk and matured for 10 months in the Los Mazos cave, located nearly 5,000 feet above sea level. (Upi)
