Firefighters Rescue Man Wedged Inside Playground Tube Slide
Emergency responders in Vernon, Connecticut were called to an unusual rescue situation at a local playground. A 40-year-old man had become wedged inside the middle portion of a tube slide at Northeast Elementary School. The Town of Vernon Fire Department, along with Vernon EMS and Police, arrived on the scene just after 4:30pm on Saturday. Photos show the man was stuck feet and head first, with his body folded at the waist. Firefighters set up ventilation equipment to keep the man cool, then removed a section of the slide to reach him. After a 30-minute operation, the patient was successfully freed. He refused any medical treatment or transport to the hospital. While the cause of the incident remains unclear, the fire department’s quick response and specialized rescue techniques allowed them to safely extract the man from the confined space of the playground equipment.
