Alaska Man Gifted $22,000 Motorcycle By Russian Government After Viral Interview
An Alaskan man named Mark Warren received a surprise gift from the Russian government – a $22,000 Ural Gear Up motorcycle with a sidecar. The gift came after a Russian TV crew interviewed Warren about his difficulty obtaining parts for his existing Ural bike. The interview went viral in Russia, prompting the Russian delegation at last week’s U.S.-Russia summit in Anchorage to arrange the gift. Two days before the summit, Warren received a call saying they would give him a new Ural motorcycle. After the summit, he was directed to an Anchorage hotel to pick it up, where Russian officials asked only to take his picture and interview him in return. Warren was initially skeptical, fearing he might be implicated in some “nefarious Russian scheme.” But he eventually accepted the gift, noting the motorcycle was manufactured just one day before the summit.
