Japanese Runner Sets World Record For Fastest 100 Meters On All Fours

Ryusei Yonee, 22, from Japan set a new Guinness World Record by running 100 meters on all fours in 14.55 seconds, covering 328 feet. His time beat American Collin McClure’s previous 2022 record of 15.66 seconds. Yonee has practiced quadrupedal running since middle school after his teacher mentioned that four-legged animals run faster. “The teacher said that animals on all-fours can run faster. That made me think: I could be the fastest human on all fours,” Yonee told Guinness World Records. He prepared by studying how dogs, cats and monkeys move. Training required adjustments from sand to track surfaces. “I was mostly training in the sand,” he explained. “The track has a lot more rebound, which changed my running form.” Yonee plans future records, saying “I will train harder than ever before. I want to do whatever I can to grow the all-four sports, wherever that may be.” (Story URL)
