Ashley Judd Says Police Treated Her 'Like A Suspect' Following Her Mother's Suicide

Ashley Judd wrote in a New York Times op-ed that authorities made her feel "like a suspect" as they interrogated her while she held her dying mother's "laboring body".

The 54-year-old actress wrote, "It is now well known that law enforcement personnel should be trained in how to respond to and investigate cases involving trauma, but the men who were present left us feeling stripped of any sensitive boundary, interrogated and, in my case, as if I was a possible suspect in my mother's suicide."

She added that while she wanted to "comfort" her mother as her "life was fading," she felt it "mandatory" cooperate with law enforcement.

Ashley also lobbied for privacy, writing in an Instagram post Wednesday (August 31st), " We need better law enforcement procedures and laws that would allow suffering families and their deceased loved one more dignity around agonizingly intimate details of their suffering. Autopsies are public record. So are toxicology reports. We have shared our story so openly, to raise awareness, reduce stigma, to help people identify, and make sure we all know we face mental illness together. What more do folks want us to give of our grief?"

The second episode of Meghan Markle's podcast Archetypes was released on Tuesday (August 30th), featuring none other than the legendary Mariah Carey. Markle and Carey discussed the word "diva," as well as their experiences as biracial women.

Carey shared that she moved more than a dozen times as a child. "I didn't fit in. I didn't fit in. You know, it would be more of the Black area of town or then you could be where my mom chose to live, were the more, the white neighborhoods. And I didn't fit in anywhere at all," she said.

Markle let the "Always Be My Baby" singer know how much it meant to see her rise to fame. "You were so formative for me. Representation matters so much. Meghan Markle Teases A Return To Instagram

In a cover story for The Cut released on Monday (August 29th), Meghan Markle announced that she is planning on returning to Instagram, after previously deactivating her accounts due to bullying.

"I'm getting back … on Instagram," she said. The interviewer added that "her eyes were alight and devilish" as she said this. When Markle got engaged to Prince Harry in 2017, she had to give up control of her social media accounts, along with opening her own mail and other everyday activities.

"It was a big adjustment — a huge adjustment to go from that kind of autonomy to a different life," she said. The Suits actress added that there was "literally a structure" when it came to sharing photos of her kids.

"Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the N-word a photo of my child before I can share it with the people that love my child?" she asked. "You tell me how that makes sense and then I'll play that game."

Markle added that she's "still healing" when it comes to everything that happened with the royal family.

Amber Heard's sister, Whitney Heard, is speaking out against MTV for featuring Johnny Depp as part of this year's Video Music Awards.

During a comedy set in Phoenix, Arizona, over the weekend, Chris Rock reportedly shared that he turned down an opportunity to host the Academy Awards in 2023. According to the Arizona Republic, Rock said going back to the Oscars would be like returning to a crime scene—as Will Smith infamously slapped the comedian during this year's awards show.

Apparently, Rock made a joke comparing a return to the Oscars to the late Nicole Brown Simpson going "back to the restaurant," where her mother had left a pair of glasses the night that she died.

Rock also referenced Smith's role as Muhammed Ali in the movie Ali. "He's bigger than me. The state of Nevada would not sanction a fight between me and Will Smith," the comedian reportedly said.

Jennifer Lopez is not happy about the leaked video footage from her second wedding to Ben Affleck in Riceboro, Georgia. The video was obtained by TMZ on Friday (August 26th).

In it, the Marry Me actress can be seen performing a new song for her groom with backup dancers behind her. Lopez sings that she "can't get enough" of the Justice League actor, as he sits in a chair smiling.

Following the release of this video, Lopez made a comment that has been circulating. "This was taken without our permission. Period. And whoever did it took advantage of our private moment. I don't know where you all are getting it from bc we had ndas and asked everyone not share anything from our wedding. Anything I put out private is OnTheJLO and it's ready to share with my fans. Which I will do when I am ready to," the Hustlers actress wrote.

"This was stolen without our consent and sold for money," she added.

Danny DeVito sat down for a lie detector test with Vanity Fair recently and shared some opinions about the different Batman movies over the years. The It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor's daughter, Lucy DeVito, asked him some questions once he was hooked up to the machine.

Showing him a photo of Michael Keaton, Lucy said, "Do you think that this Batman is better than—" before Danny interrupted to say Keaton was his favorite. Then she handed him a photo of Colin Farrell.

"Oh, Colin? I love Colin. He's a terrific guy. My Penguin was better," Danny said.

"Was that the truth?" he asked, looking up at the test's administrator. "It certainly was. In my opinion. It's my opinion. Good man though, Colin's a good guy," he said.
