U2 will be spotlighted at this year's Kennedy Center Honors.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced Thursday (7-21) that the 22-time Grammy winners, along with actor George Clooney, singers Gladys Knight and Amy Grant and composer Tania León will be honored in December.

It's a rare occasion that a band is among the honorees… Though U2 is in the company with Earth, Wind & Fire, they were the most recent group, that was in 2019. The Eagles were honored in 2016 and Led Zeppelin in 2012.

Kennedy Center President Deborah F. Rutter said she was told that U2 frontman Bono was eating and was so surprised that he dropped his fork when he was told the band had been selected for this lifetime achievement award.

This is the 45th year of the honors, which will include a gala performance Dec. 4 in Washington featuring top entertainers. The show will be broadcast on CBS at a later date.

SHONKA DUKUREH DIES AT 44: People reports that Elvis actress and singer Shonka Dukureh was found dead in her Nashville apartment on Thursday (July 21st). One of Dukureh's two young children found her unresponsive in a bedroom and rushed to a neighbor's. No foul play is suspected. Dukureh starred as Big Mama Thornton in the Elvis biopic. The 44-year-old was a celebrated gospel singer, and her acting career was just beginning.

SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR TO STAR IN AND EXECUITVE PRODUCE ‘WOLF PACK:' Deadline reports that Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress Sarah Michelle Gellar is set to star in and executive produce the Paramount+ Teen Wolf spinoff Wolf Pack. The news was announced at the Teen Wolf: The Movie panel at the San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday (July 21st), where Gellar made a surprise appearance.

Dave Chappelle's Wednesday (July 20th) night show in Minneapolis was cancelled at the last minute in response to his perceived transphobic remarks.

The First Avenue theater pulled out of the sold-out show, writing on Instagram, "To staff, artists, and our community, we hear you and we are sorry. We know we must hold ourselves to the highest standards and we know we let you down."

Instead, the show took place at Varsity Theater, where he was previously scheduled to perform on July 21st and 22nd.

According to Deadline, tickets for Chappelle's First Avenue gig were suddenly released on July 18th and were scooped up within minutes for the 1,550 main room capacity facility.

Keleigh Sperry was not a fan of husband Miles Teller's Top Gun mustache.

The Top Gun: Maverick star told People in a recent interview, "My wife made me shave it immediately."

H.E.R. TO STAR IN 'BEAUTY AND THE BEAST': ABC announced Wednesday (July 20th) that H.E.R. will play Belle in the upcoming Beauty and the Beast musical. The Grammy Award-winning artist said in a statement, "I have always wanted to be a Disney princess, and I get to work with two wonderful directors Hamish Hamilton and my favorite, Jon M. Chu. It is very surreal, and I couldn't be more grateful." The musical, which will feature a blend of animated and live-action scenes, will air on December 15th.

TOM BERGERON CELEBRATES ALFONSO RIBERIO'S 'DWTS' GIG: Tom Bergeron is thrilled to hear that Alfonso Ribeiro will co-host Season 31 of Dancing With The Stars. The former DWTS host wrote in a recent Instagram post, "Now, getting Conrad Green back as DWTS showrunner is only ONE of their smartest decisions. Here's the other one. Congratulations, buddy."

Eyewitnesses to Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's Las Vegas wedding say that the ceremony was emotional. According to A Little White Wedding Chapel coordinator Kenosha Booth, "It was beautiful. Some tears were shed by them both."

Booth also relayed that the venue played "Here Comes the Bride" over a Bluetooth speaker as Lopez walked down the aisle. At the altar, the Marry Me actress and the Argo actor exchanged vows and wedding bands.

Lopez's child Emme and one of Affleck's three children attended the ceremony, along with Lopez's hairstylist, Chris Appleton. Another chapel source told People that the couple "wanted it to be very simple," and that they were "very excited."

Following an autopsy by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner, Jak Knight's cause of death has been confirmed.

The Bust Down actor was found suffering from a gunshot wound on a Los Angeles embankment Thursday (July 14th). A coroner ruled that his cause of death was suicide.

After Knight's family announced news of his death last week, a number of stars took to social media to honor the 28-year-old comedian.

Eternals actor Kumail Nanjiani tweeted, "Rest In Peace Jak Knight. Hilarious comedian and a great guy. I can't believe it." Other stars such as Chance the Rapper, Workaholics actor Blake Anderson, and Fire Island's Joel Kim Booster posted in remembrance of Knight.

Harry Potter actress Miriam Margolyes is not a fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger. On the most recent episode of the I've Got News For You podcast, Margolyes said that the Terminator actor purposely farted in her face while they worked on End of Days together.

"I didn't care for him; he's a bit too full of himself," she said, adding that Schwarzenegger "was actually quite rude" on the set of the 1999 horror film.

"He farted in my face. Now, I fart, of course I do – but I don't fart in people's faces. He did it deliberately, right in my face," Margolyes said.

On Monday (July 18th), Jurassic Park: Dominion star Chris Pratt posted a shirtless selfie to Instagram, showing off what appeared to be a fake wound on his chest. "Lookin cut," he captioned the post.

Also featured in the mirror selfie was a yellow post-it note from Pratt's nine-year-old son, Jack. "See ya at 8 ish," the note read. The Parks and Recreation actor's followers couldn't get enough of it.

CREW MEMBER ON ‘LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME' IS SHOT AND KILLED IN NEW YORK: Variety reports that a crew member for Law & Order: Organized Crime was shot and killed on Tuesday morning (July 19th) while on location to film the show's third season. Johnny Pizarro, a resident of Queens, arrived in Brooklyn in the early hours of the morning. He was sitting in his car at approximately 5:15 a.m. ET, when an unknown person opened the door and opened fire. Pizarro was rushed to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. NBC and studio Universal Television released a joint statement that reads, "We were terribly saddened and shocked to hear that one of our crew members was the victim of a crime early this morning and has died as a result. We are working with local law enforcement as they continue to investigate. Our hearts go out to his family and friends and we ask that you respect their privacy during this time."

Emilia Clarke opened up about the harrowing medical experiences she went through while filming Game of Thrones in a recent interview with BBC Sunday Morning. The Me Before You actress suffered from two brain aneurysms, one in 2011 and another in 2013.

"It was the most excruciating pain," she said, adding that it was "incredibly helpful to have Game of Thrones sweep me up and give me that purpose."

Clarke continued, "The amount of my brain that is no longer usable, it's remarkable that I am able to speak and live my life completely normally with absolutely no repercussions." She went on to explain that she's "in the really, really, really small minority of people that can survive that." However, she shared that there is "quite a bit missing" from her brain.

"Strokes, basically, as soon as any part of your brain doesn't get blood for a second, it's gone. So the blood finds a different route to get around, but then whatever bit is missing is therefore gone," Clarke said.

It looks like there will be a part two when it comes to Ben and Jen's big day. Following their Las Vegas wedding over the weekend, a source told People that the couple "plan on having a bigger party so they can celebrate with family and friends."

The source continued, "They don't have a honeymoon planned yet. Jennifer says that every day with Ben is a honeymoon."

The source highlighted how happy Lopez is with the relationship. "Ever since they started dating again, Jennifer has truly believed that this is it. She is looking forward to growing old with Ben. During a United Nations speech in New York City on Monday (July 18th), Prince Harry shared his love for Africa in honor of Nelson Mandela Day. He commented on how the continent connected him to his mother, Princess Diana, and his wife, Meghan Markle.

Kylie Jenner is in hot water regarding the use of her private jet. The Kardashians star has even been called a "climate criminal," following the 17-minute flight she took from Camarillo, California, to Van Nuys, California, last week.

On Friday (July 15th), Jenner posted a black-and-white photo of herself and Travis Scott between two planes. "you wanna take mine or yours ?" she captioned the post. People did not hold back when it came to how she's affecting the environment.

There was a lot of speculation about Johnny Depp's love life when he was spotted in Italy with a red-haired woman over the weekend. However, TMZ reported on Monday (July 18th) that their relationship is not romantic.

Sources told the outlet that the mystery woman is working on Depp's upcoming movie Jeanne du Barry as a French teacher. She is reportedly traveling with him for lessons on the go.

‘LATE SHOW' STAFF WON'T BE PROSECUTED FOLLOWING U.S. CAPITOL ARRESTS: According to The Hollywood Reporter, the nine Late Show with Stephen Colbert staffers who were arrested at the U.S. Capitol in June won't be prosecuted. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia released a statement on Monday (July 18th) that reads: "After a comprehensive review of all of the evidence and the relevant legal authority, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia has determined that it cannot move forward with misdemeanor charges of unlawful entry against the nine individuals who were arrested on June 16, 2022 at the Longworth Office Building."
