Easy Lawn Renovation!
Hold on, fall is coming fast! This weekend we will see lows in the low sixties! Yes! I am so ready for fall!
Fall is the best time of the year for fescue lawn renovations. From bare spots, thin lawns, or complete make overs, fall is the best time.
1. Prepare the soil. Rake, spike or aerate the lawn to allow access for the seed to touch the soil. Bring in a soil sample to see if you need to adjust the soil pH. Add Soil Activator to loosen clay or chert based soils.
2. Sow seed. Bare ground gets 10 pounds of seed per 1,000 sq. ft. Over seeding is generally 5 pounds of seed per 1,000 sq. ft. For a great looking lawn, you must use good seed and Holcombs has the best!
3. Feed the lawn. It’s time for Step 4, Fertilome New Lawn Starter to rejuvenate your established lawn and feed the newly seeded or sodded lawn.
4. Water as needed. For newly seeded lawns keep them moist for best germination of seed, maybe light watering several times a day. For established lawns apply 1″ of water a week. Preferably, apply .5″ twice a week.
