We’ve all heard of “quiet quitting.” But have you heard of getting “quiet fired”? Because if it feels like your boss is being unsupportive, you might be slowly getting pushed toward the exit.

“Quiet firing” is when a boss essentially manages someone out of a job instead of helping them move up.

Some of the signs that you’re being “quiet fired” include:

1. If your boss continues to avoid important conversations . . . and meetings keep getting reshuffled or canceled.

2. Opportunities go to other people . . . it’s never a good sign when projects you wanted or expected are suddenly handed to coworkers.

3. Raises and promotions don’t come . . . and your manager can’t clearly explain what you need to do to advance.

4. You get an unreasonable performance improvement plan . . . where the goals may be too tough, subjective, or unsupported.

5. Your job changes without your input . . . it’s a bad sign if your workload or expectations shift without a change in title or pay.
