Beatles News Roundup

  • John Lennon‘s sons, Julian and Sean Lennon, both posted video tributes to Paul McCartney on his 80th birthday on June 18th. Julian sent a message to “Uncle Paul” direct from the Beatles‘ legendary home-away-from-home, London’s Abbey Road Studios. Sean, who had learned from Stella McCartney that Revolver’s “Here, There, And Everywhere” was among “Macca’s” favorites, performed the song in tribute.
    • McCartney friend and collaborator Elvis Costello also posted his version of “Here, There, And Everywhere” online.
  • Coming on August 5th will be the McCartney I II III box set. The package will be available in three different formats — “Limited Edition Color Vinyl, Black Vinyl Edition, and CD — each including three special photo prints with notes from Paul McCartney about each album.” The newly created box set cover art and typography for the slipcase are by Ed Ruscha. (Press release)
    • Paul McCartney’s three one-man-band albums all hit the Top Three upon release — McCartney (1970) #1; McCartney II (1980) #3; and McCartney III (2020) #2.
  • Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band have rolled out the revised itinerary for their September tour, which now includes all 12 of the dates that they recently had to postpone.
