Borrowed Book Returned After 84 Years

A public library in Helsinki, Finland finally received an old library book…80 years overdue. The copy of Conan Doyle’s “The Refugees” was checked out in 1939. “We get these kinds of returnings that are tens of years late every once in a while, and many times they are books that friends and family find when they go through the belongings of a deceased relative,” Librarian Heini Strand said. The Soviet Union attacked Finland shortly after the book was checked out, so the borrower may have been preoccupied. The book is is such good condition that it may re-enter circulation. (CNN)
