Canadian Woman Sets Two Speed Records On Penny Farthing Bike
A Canadian cyclist has achieved remarkable success in penny farthing racing, setting two new world records at an Australian track event. Lizanne Wilmot, known for her talent in riding big-wheeled bicycles, participated in the competition held in Burnie, Tasmania. Wilmot set the Guinness World Records for the fastest speed on a penny farthing (female) and the fastest 1 kilometer on a penny farthing (female). She completed the 1 kilometer (.62 mile) distance in 52.75 seconds, reaching a top speed of 25.92 mph. Previously, Wilmot had held the record for the farthest distance on a penny farthing in one hour (female), but she had lost the title to British cyclist Melissa Eisdell. This latest achievement further demonstrates Wilmot’s exceptional skills in navigating the iconic Victorian-style bicycle. (Upi)
