Deli Workers Stabbed By Customer Over Years-Old Sandwich Order

Two employees of Baladna Bakery in Paterson, New Jersey, were allegedly stabbed over a years-old order mix-up. According to authorities, the incident occurred on July 31 when a man confronted a female employee and then attacked brothers Abed and Mohammad Assad, the bakery’s owners of over a decade, with a box cutter. The suspect claimed the employees had given him the wrong order, including an eggplant sandwich instead of an egg sandwich, four years earlier. Workers offered the suspect a hot dog and $3 as compensation, but he refused. When the employees asked the man to leave, he allegedly proceeded to stab Mohammad in the chest and Abed in the hand and arm. Both victims were transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center, with Mohammad sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. Police are currently searching for the suspect, who was captured on surveillance video fleeing the scene. (People)
