Guinness World Records Celebrates 70th Year with Open Challenge

As Guinness World Records marks its 70th anniversary, the organization is inviting the public to attempt 70 unclaimed record titles. These range from the fastest 400-meter sack race to the farthest distance to bounce a coin into a cup. The very first Guinness Book of World Records was compiled and published on August 27, 1955. To commemorate the milestone, Guinness is launching a new Record Selector quiz to match aspiring record-breakers with appropriate challenges based on their skills and interests. According to Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday, the goal is to engage the “current and next generation of record-breakers” and encourage broad participation in documenting extraordinary human achievements. The 70 open titles are now available for the taking by anyone who dares to pursue them. (UPI)
