Man’s Karaoke Performance of Nickelback Songs Mistaken for Distress Signal
An unusual rescue operation took place in British Columbia’s Boulderfields area, where the Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) team responded to a 911 call about someone making “repeated cries” for help. The COSAR team split into two groups to search the forests and local roads, but the person in “distress” was soon discovered to be a solo camper singing Nickelback songs loudly enough to be mistaken for a distress call. As described by COSAR’s search manager, Duane Tresnich, “He wasn’t in trouble, unless you count his singing.” The rescue team noted that their services are always free, and the money saved could be better spent on singing lessons for the enthusiastic camper. The identity of the “karaoke camper” and the specific songs he was performing for the woodland creatures were not disclosed in the report. (Newser)
