Mr. Big Will Reunite In 2023
After lots of speculation, its now official… Mr. Big will reunite next year. They shut down after the 2018 death of drummer Pat Torpey.
In an interview with The Metal Voice, frontman Eric Martin confirmed by saying, “There’s no question about it. It’s gonna happen in the middle of 2023.” They’re even working on a possible tour with “multiple dates.”
He says they now have a drummer in place they feel Torpey would have approved of. He wasn’t ready announce who he was, but said: “Everybody knows him and one really, really cool thing is that he was a big fan of Torpey.”
Matt Starr, who filled in for Torpey after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, won’t be with them because he’s back working with Ace Frehley. The other members include original founders, guitarist Paul Gilbert, and bassist Billy Sheehan. Martin said they’re doing everything in “The Spirit of Torpey.”
Mr. Big released their self-titled debut album in 1989, but it was their sophomore set Lean Into It, that delivered songs like “To Be With You” and “Just Take My Heart.”
