Phil Lesh & Friends Set 2022 Itinerary

Grateful Dead co-founder Phil Lesh has just announced 21 solo dates, which culminate in a nine-show residency at Port Chester, New York’s Capitol Theatre. Lesh kicks off his 2022 dates on June 4th at Stanford, California’s Frost Amphitheatre.

Backing Lesh on the road will be Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench, Phil’s son, guitarist Grahame Lesh, drummer Joe Russo, and guitarists Scott Metzger and John Scofield.

Although Phil Lesh was part of the Grateful Dead’s five 2015 “Fare Thee Well” concerts, he’s been adamant to let the band be a thing of the past. As it’s been no secret of disagreements amongst the surviving Dead members, we thought we’d ask drummer Mickey Hart why Lesh — who relies heavily on the Dead catalogue for his solo setlists — chose not to carry on the band’s legacy with them: “I have no idea. I have no contemplation of about that. . . I have no idea. I understand Phil is having a wonderful life and enjoying himself and enjoying himself and I’m happy for him — and so am I. And so it seems like we’re all in a good place.”
