Seattle Kraken Mascot Has Close-Call With Charging Brown Bear

Members of the Seattle Kraken hockey team had a close encounter with a grizzly bear while fly fishing in Alaska. The team’s mascot, Buoy the sea troll, was charged by a bear during their outing in Katmai National Park. A video shared on social media captured the moment the bear approached Buoy, causing a bit of a scare before veering away. Kraken forward John Hayden mentioned that the bears seemed intrigued by the mascot’s appearance. Despite the tense moment, the team managed to exit the water safely. The Alaska trip was part of the team’s annual community engagement partnership with the Bristol Bay Native Corporation, which also included activities at the Anchorage Hockey Academy’s youth hockey camp.
