Serial Shoplifter Avoids Jail Despite Threatening Worker With Stolen Lamb
Naumai Johnson received six months home detention after admitting to 26 charges including theft, shoplifting, and threatening behavior worth thousands of dollars. Her crime spree included stealing a $270 adult toy from Hamilton’s Peaches and Cream store and threatening a transport worker with a leg of lamb during a grocery theft incident. On April 22, Johnson took $256.50 worth of groceries from Woolworths, wheeled them to a bus stop, then threatened the transport coordinator with the stolen lamb when told to remove items. She also grabbed the bus cash box containing $125 before fleeing. Other thefts included $660 worth of items from Briscoes while wearing a disguise and shoes from Rebel Sport. Judge Noel Cocurullo told Johnson: “The only reason you are not going to jail is because of your limited conviction list. You are getting a chance. Don’t blow it.” (Story URL)
