Someone Found 50 Lbs. Of Suspected Cocaine Floating Near Florida Keys
A mariner in Florida found approximately 50 lbs. of suspected cocaine floating off the coast of Islamorada in the Florida Keys. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Customs Border and Protection retrieved the 23 kilograms of taped-up packages shaped like bricks and turned them over to federal authorities. The identity of the individual who discovered the drugs has not been disclosed. This incident is not the first time drugs have been found in the area, with previous discoveries near Mile Marker 79.5 and offshore of Tavernier. Additionally, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported a beachgoer finding nearly $500,000 worth of cocaine washed up on a local beach. (People)
