Texas Inmate Mistakenly Freed From Jail
A Texas inmate was accidentally released from jail just before beginning a 7-year sentence for family violence and evading arrest. Troy Dugas, 36, had been held at the Harris County Jail since August 14th on unrelated charges that were later dismissed. However, his prison sentence for previous crimes in other counties was not properly documented, leading to the mistaken release on August 17th. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances that led to Dugas’ erroneous release, acknowledging that jail staff failed to properly record his state prison sentence in his file. The public is being asked to report any sightings of Dugas by calling 911. (Newser)
