Utah Man Destroys 35-Year-Old Car With Giant Pumpkin Drop
Millville resident Alan Gebert bid farewell to his 1991 Geo Metro by crushing it with a massive pumpkin dropped from 14 stories high. The 1,917-pound pumpkin, which won first place at the Utah Giant Pumpkin Festival weigh-off, was lifted by crane at Hee Haw Farms in Pleasant Grove before being released onto the compact car. The impact caved in the vehicle’s roof in dramatic fashion. Gebert’s Metro had stopped running after 35 years of service, prompting him to choose this unique send-off method. “It’s just something that we’ve talked, me and my wife have talked about for a long time, that this would be the best way for it to go, and it happened, so it’s been kind of fun,” Gebert said.
