‘Wicked: For Good’ Dominates Box Office With Record-Breaking $150 Million Debut

Wicked: For Good claimed the top box office position, earning $150 million domestically during its opening weekend. The musical adaptation established a new benchmark for Broadway-to-film projects, surpassing 2024’s Wicked which previously recorded $112.5 million in the same pre-Thanksgiving period. It’s also the year’s second-largest debut, trailing only A Minecraft Movie at $162 million  and the Lilo & Stitch remake at $146 million. Now You See Me 3 secured second place, collecting $9.1 million in its second weekend. Predator: Badlands took third with $6.5 million during its third week in theaters. The Running Man followed closely in fourth position, generating $6.1 million in its second weekend. Rounding out the top five was Rental Family, featuring Brendan Fraser as a struggling actor taking substitute family roles in Japan, which opened with $3.3 million. (Story URL)
