Woman Busted In Car Theft Case After Confessing In Her Diary

A 31-year-old Minnesota woman, Vanessa Guerra, avoided a prison sentence after pleading guilty to receiving stolen property. At a District Court hearing, Judge Krista Jass sentenced Guerra to three years of probation, fined her $454, and prohibited her from possessing alcohol, drugs, guns, ammunition, or explosives. She will also be subject to unannounced searches. Guerra was charged with the theft of a $2,000 Ford Freestar van that she sold for scrap in Blue Earth County. During the investigation, authorities obtained Guerra’s personal journal, which contained handwritten confessions to the crime. On the day the van was reported missing, Guerra had written, “Totally stole a car today! Something I never thought of doing,” and “Fu-ken super freaking out about it.” If Guerra successfully completes her probation, the felony charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor. (Story URL)
