World’s Oldest Man Celebrates 113th Birthday, Credits Family For Longevity

João Marinho Neto, the world’s oldest man, turned 113 on October 5th, marking another milestone since earning the Guinness World Records title in November 2024. Born in 1912 in Maranguape, Brazil, Neto is now the last surviving man from that year and ranks as the 26th oldest man ever recorded. His family organized a birthday celebration to honor the occasion. Neto attributes his longevity to “being surrounded by good people” and keeping loved ones close. The Brazilian farmer began working fields at age 4 alongside his father. Neto fathered seven children with two partners and now has 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. In August, he made history by sending birthday wishes to 116-year-old Ethel Caterham, the world’s oldest woman, marking the first recorded greeting between supercentenarians from different countries.
