Beethoven’s 5(th)K
The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera is excited to announce a fun and exciting way to support the region’s local orchestra while also getting some steps in: Beethoven’s 5(th)K! Since this race is virtual, you can participate from anywhere in the world. all you need to do is register and get moving, the only parameter is that you must complete your 5K between October 10-17. Registrants will also receive a 5(th)K T-shirt, and event proceeds will support the CSO’s Annual Fund. www.chattanoogasymphony.org
Oddtober at the TN Aquarium
The Odd, peculiar and bizarre beasts are back for ODD Tober this year. Every October, the Tennessee Aquarium shines a light on nature’s fascinating and odd creatures throughout the month. This year, visitors — in person or online — will still find plenty of fun to be had in learning about curious creatures of the scaly, furry and even glow-in-the-dark variety.
Tivoli Film Series
Tivoli Theatre will offer free showing of “42,” the Jackie Robinson biopic that was shot largely in Chattanooga at historic Engel Stadium in 2012, will be the first movie in the Bobby Stone Film Series at the Tivoli. Also showing this weekend will be “Back to the Future” at 3 and 7 p.m. on Saturday and “Jurassic Park” at 2 and 6 p.m. on Sunday. While there is no charge to attend “42,” admission is $12 for adults and $10 for children and seniors 65 and older for the remainder of the films in the series. Future titles in the series will be announced at a later date.
