July 4th 2026 Weekend

  Post Offices will be open on Friday July 3rd, but will be closed on Saturday July 4th. So no mail delivery on Saturday the 4th.   

    Parking on the streets of downtown Chattanooga will be free on Saturday July 4th, courtesy of the Chattanooga Parking Authority.  It’s still against the law to park in a handicap space, or in front of a fire hydrant, but street parking will be free on Saturday the 4th. You won’t have to feed the meters that day, downtown. 

    Carta buses will run on a limited schedule on July 4th. But the free Downtown Shuttle will still run about every 10 minutes, from the Choo Choo to the Aquarium, on that Saturday, the 4th.  

    Some banks may be closed on Friday July 3rd, and some are closed only on Saturday July 4th. So check with  your bank for their specific hours, over the holiday weekend.  

    Government offices will be closed on Friday July 3rd..   

    The Landfill and the Recycling Centers will be closed on Saturday July 4th. 

    TDOT  will halt most construction projects on Tennessee highways and interstates, from 12noon on Thursday July 2nd, until 6am on Monday July 6th. Some long-term projects may need to continue, in order to meet deadlines, but most lanes are expected to be open for the July 4th weekend. Slow down just in case
