/- The annual “Back Pack Day” will be held Saturday July 18th at the Chattanooga Food Bank. It’s sponsored by The Nehemiah Project, and they intend to fill 12,000 backpacks for the coming school year. Yes 12,000 backpacks! With pencils, glue sticks, rulers, crayons and more. Sign up to volunteer that day, by visiting online NehemiahR3.org.
/- The Humane Society needs kitty foster families. It’s kitten season and there are hundreds at the Humane Society. If you can take in a kitty (or two) for a few weeks, and show them some loving until a permanent home is found, the Humane Society says thank you. Visit HESchatt.org. Or call (423) 624-5302. They are open Tuesdays through Sundays.
/- The International Bluegrass Music Association is looking for local bluegrass bands, to perform at “Pickin’ In The Park”. The free shows will be held in Miller Park, in late October. Visit the International Bluegrass Music Association Facebook Page to apply by July 24th.
/- The annual “Big Hair Affair” to benefit the Kidney Foundation of Chattanooga is set for Saturday July 25th, at a new location – the Chattanooga Whiskey Event Hall on Riverfront Parkway. The night will honor the very first kidney transplant performed in the Scenic City, and all the progress that has been made since then. It’s an 80s and 90s night, with trivia and auctions, a costume contest and more. July 25th at the Whiskey Event Hall, with the Kidney Foundation.
