Digital Detoxing for Two Weeks Can Erase a Decade of Cognitive Decline

If your phone feels glued to your hand, you’re not alone. One study found that, on average, Americans spend five hours and 16 minutes a day on their phones.

But according to new research, the negative effects of all that screen time can be reversed.

Researchers tracked people who had blocked internet access on their phone. They were allowed to call and text, but no scrolling of any kind. After only two weeks of this digital detox, everyone’s attention spans improved big time.

Here’s the wild part: They said the boost was similar to reversing TEN YEARS of age-related decline. People also reported having less anxiety and feeling better overall, too.

And if you can’t go the full two weeks, don’t worry. One researcher said, “Even taking a partial digital detox, even for a few days, seems to work.”
