Staying Optimistic in Life Might Lower Your Risk for Dementia

Older adults who tend to see the bright side of life may be giving their brains a boost, too.
A study led by Harvard followed more than 9,000 Americans age 70 and older. And they found that people with higher levels of optimism were about 15% less likely to develop dementia.
And the trend held true regardless of race, health conditions, or even depression levels.
People are starting to realize that optimism isn’t just a personality trait you’re born with. It can be strengthened through mental exercises and therapy. And having that more positive outlook could be protecting your brain health.
The study doesn’t prove optimism prevents dementia, but it’s helping show how our mindset can influence how we age. So be hopeful in life! It’s good for your mood . . . and your brain, too.
