This Saturday Oct. 7th is the annual Tennessee River Rescue. Hundreds of volunteers are needed to clean out trash and litter from the Tennessee River. There will be lots of areas to sign up for, from 9am until 12noon Saturday, so get details on their website, TennesseeRiverRescue.org and click “Event Details”,
The Rhea County Fire Department Association invites you to their big Family Festival, this Saturday Oct. 7th . It starts at 11am and goes all day, with food, live music, bouncey houses, horseshoe tournaments, and much more. It will be held at the Rhea County Fairgrounds this Saturday, and will support local fire depts.
Walden’s Ridge Park on Signal Mountain is now open, and it features more than 10 miles of hiking trails, mountain-bike trails, and boulder climbing!
The American Red Cross of Tennessee needs volunteers on October 14th, to help install smoke alarms for local families. The smoke alarms will be free for families who cannot afford them, and you can help deliver and install them. Sign up online at RedCross.org/Tennessee and scroll down to “Sound The Alarm.”
The Better Business Bureau will host its annual “Shred Day”, this Saturday October 7th from 9am until 12noon. It will be held at the Coca-Cola Bottling Facility on Shepherd Road, and you are allowed up to 3 bags or boxes of sensitive documents; also you can recycle your electronics, so bring your hard drives and laptops with you, AND get rid of those outdated prescriptions too. It’s FREE, this Saturday from 9 til 12.
The “Between The Bridges Arts Festival” will be October 14th and 15th, in Coolidge Park, on the North Shore. Dozens of artists from around the southeast will show and sell their works, and this Arts Festival is sponsored by the Association for Visual Arts. It’s free to attend, October 14th and 15th.
