Want to Avoid Gum Disease? Eat Less

Smile

You can avoid gum disease by brushing and flossing every day. Or, just reduce the number of miles you’re puttin’ on those chompers . . .

A study found cutting calories might help slow the progression of gum disease.

Researchers at King’s College in London looked at a bunch of studies done on humans and animals, and think it might really make a difference.

They found it lowers the amount of inflammation in your gums, and your whole body. So that’s why it helps.

They say it can even work short-term. So if you go on a diet, you might end up with a slimmer waist AND healthier gums.

Just make sure you don’t go overboard. You still need to eat. And if you end up malnourished, that can actually CAUSE gum disease.

But if you’ve been overeating and want to dial it back, your gums might thank you for it.
