Five Questions You Should Ask Yourself Before Traveling with Your Pet

If you’re planning on traveling with your pet this summer, here are five questions to ask yourself ahead of time . . .
1. Are the accommodations pet-friendly? You’ll have to do some research to find a hotel or rental that allows pets. And some hotels REALLY go out of their way to make your pet feel welcome, with beds, treats, and other amenities.
2. Would my pet enjoy this destination? Some dogs are comfortable in new environments, around strangers, and in crowded areas. While others are better off at home playing fetch with a pet sitter.
3. Is the weather safe and comfortable for my pet? Especially in summer, you have to be mindful about things like heat exposure and other risks.
4. Can I bring everything they need to keep them safe and happy away from home? Things like their crate, a bed, water and food bowls, their leash, toys, and any medication they need.
5. Is there access to vet care? Get an idea ahead of time of how close the nearest emergency vet is, just in case there’s an accident or sudden illness.
