Angelina Jolie Filed Anonymous Lawsuit To Find Out Why Brad Pitt Wasn't Charged With Domestic Violence

On Monday (August 15th), Angelina Jolie was revealed as the "Jane Doe" who filed an anonymous 2016 lawsuit in which the plaintiff says she was "physically and verbally assaulted" by her "then-husband" on a plane.

According to a report published by Puck, Jolie alleged that Brad Pitt took her to the back of the plane, grabbed her shoulders and said, "You're f—cking up this family." She also claimed another physical altercation occurred on the same flight, during which she sustained injuries. Pitt allegedly was drinking and had poured beer on her as well.

After the FBI decided they would not pursue criminal charges against Pitt, Jolie filed an anonymous Freedom of Information Act suit to obtain documents regarding the investigation.

In 2016, the FBI and the Los Angeles Department of Child and Family Services were investigating Pitt for child abuse after an incident occurred on his family's private plane. The incident allegedly involved his 15-year-old son Maddox, who interrupted a fight between Pitt and Jolie.

Pitt's team denied the allegations in a statement to People: "He is emphatic that it did not reach the level of physical abuse, that no one was physically harmed. He did not hit his child in the face in any way. He did not do that; he is emphatic about that. He put his hands on him, yes, because the confrontation was spiraling out of control."

Following this incident, Jolie filed for divorce, and Pitt publicly quit drinking.

"In old Western movies, you would see someone fan the hammer of the gun," Baldwin explained. "If you pull the hammer back and you don't lock the hammer … it would fire the bullet without you pulling the trigger."

Baldwin went on to say that what's important is finding out how live ammunition made it to the set. "The only question here is who put a live round in the gun," he said.

"I'm not the victim here. Things, for me, are gonna get better. Things, for me, are gonna get cleared up. I'm a thousand percent confident about that … The real tragedy here is what happened to this woman," Baldwin added.

Following this, the High Fidelity star received significant criticism.

"It's a scary time to have an opinion or to say the wrong thing or to make controversial art or statements or thoughts or anything," Kravitz said in a recent interview with WSJ. Magazine.

She continued, "It's mostly scary because art is about conversation. That should, in my opinion, always be the point. The internet is the opposite of conversation. The internet is people putting things out and not taking anything in."

Amber Heard Hires New Legal Team For Johnny Depp Defamation Trial Appeal

Amber Heard has chosen to switch legal counsel as she prepares to appeal the outcome of Johnny Depp's defamation trial. Elaine Charlson Bredehoft, who represented the Aquaman actress in the six-week-long trial, is being replaced by David L. Axelrod and Jay Ward Brown of Ballard Spahr.

A representative for Heard said, "When it comes to protecting the fundamental right of Freedom of Speech, we look at the jury's decision — to paraphrase a famous quote — not 'as the beginning of the end, but merely the end of the beginning.' A different court warrants different representation, particularly as so much new evidence is now coming to light."

Bredehoft commented on the decision: "This is the perfect time to pass the baton. I have pledged to Amber and her appellate team my complete cooperation and assistance as they move forward on a path towards success."

Axelrod and Brown represented The New York Times in Sarah Palin's defamation suit earlier this year—and they won. "We welcome the opportunity to represent Ms. Heard in this appeal as it is a case with important First Amendment implications for every American. We're confident the appellate court will apply the law properly without deference to popularity, reverse the judgment against Ms. Heard, and reaffirm the fundamental principles of Freedom of Speech," they said in a joint statement.

Blair played for the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, and Jacobson said, "She initially came on to consult about what it was like to be on the league, what it was like to play baseball and softball at the time. In doing so, we really got to know her."

The Broad City actress continued, "She had not been publicly 'out' and talked about how (in) that league, a lot of the women were queer and it was a very sort of hidden part of that experience."

The 95-year-old made the decision to come out publicly during a panel discussion at the show's Tribeca Film Festival premiere.

"It made me feel that the show is telling those stories and it can impact people that haven't seen themselves. For someone who's 95 to finally come out is simultaneously incredible for her to finally be who she is. But also, I think it's pretty heartbreaking that it took 95 years for her to be who she is," Jacobson said.

Over the weekend, Shameless actress Emily Bergl paid tribute to the late Anne Heche and spoke out against those who called the Six Days Seven Nights actress "crazy." Bergl and Heche were costars in the series Men in Trees.

Bergl posted a photo of Heche to Instagram and honored Heche's life and work. "'You worked with crazy Anne Heche?' ‘So how crazy was she?' I worked with Anne Heche for two years on the TV show Men in Trees, and this line of questioning was usually the first out of people's mouths … Anne was not only a genius, but one of the most astoundingly focused and prepared actors I've ever worked with. I don't think I ever saw her miss her mark," she wrote.

Bergl continued, "It's no wonder Anne titled her brilliant memoir Call Me Crazy, she beat everyone to the punch. She was talking about mental health before it was acceptable to talk about those struggles. She was raped by her father, her brother killed himself, and her mother told her she would burn in Hell for loving a woman. But despite a sometimes harrowing life, she was so much fun to be around. She was insouciant, joyous, insightful. We so rarely investigate the abuse, the gaslighting, the misogyny, the homophobia that drives people to finally take up the ‘crazy' mantle that's been placed upon them."

Heche's ex, James Tupper, who also starred on Men in Trees, commented on the post, "Oh god thank you for writing this. Is all completely accurate and true. love you e."

He continued, "I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online. And ultimately, it's very detrimental to my mental state so I decided to take a step back and delete the app."

The Uncharted actor said he returned to Instagram briefly to share this update and to promote the app stem4, which is a charity focused on mental health.

"The Brothers Trust is supporting this charity because we think it's a fantastic cause. There is an awful stigma against mental health and I know that asking for help and seeking help isn't something we should be ashamed of but it is something that is much easier said than done. So hopefully these apps can be your first steps towards being happier and healthier," Holland said.
