Like many women in Hollywood, Melanie Lynskey has dealt with body shaming throughout her career. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Yellowjackets actress talked about the pressure she felt to lose weight on the set of Coyote Ugly.

"All the girls had this regimen they had to go on. It was ridiculous. I was already starving myself and as thin as I could possibly be for this body, and I was still a size four," she said.

The Don't Look Up actress continued, "There were already people putting a lot of Spanx on me in wardrobe fittings and being very disappointed when they saw me, the costume designer being like, 'Nobody told me there would be girls like you.' Really intense feedback about my physicality, my body, people doing my makeup and being like, 'I'm just going to help you out by giving you a bit more of a jawline and stuff.' Just the feedback was constantly like, 'You're not beautiful. You're not beautiful.'"

Lynskey played Piper Perabo's best friend from New Jersey in the 2000 film. She added, "In your early 20s, so much of it is about beauty, and how people respond to you, and do people want to f—k you? Do people think you're their best friend? Even the best friend thing, I started to be like, ‘I don't want to do that too many times.'"

And I think that's what brought her to it." Regarding Diaz's return to the big screen, Foxx added, "We miss special moments sometimes, in our business, and I think this is a special moment. MARTHA STEWART CELEBRATES HER 81ST BIRTHDAY: Martha Stewart celebrated her birthday with a selfie on Wednesday (August 3rd), sharing that she had a "just a bit too much" chardonnay. Entertainment Tonight reports that Geisendorff filed divorce papers on Monday (August 1st), citing irreconcilable differences as the reason. The pair share three children together.

ELLEN POMPEO WILL HAVE A REDUCED ROLE ON 19TH SEASON OF ‘GREY'S ANATOMY:' Deadline reports that Ellen Pompeo's role on Grey's Anatomy will be reduced for the show's 19th season. Pompeo will appear in eight episodes and will continue to narrate and executive produce the show. This comes as the actress prepares to star in the Hulu limited series Orphan—which will be her first role besides Meredith Grey in nearly two decades.

‘JOKER' SEQUEL GETS RELEASED DATE: Joker: Folie à Deux got its official release date on Wednesday (August 3rd). Variety reports that the sequel starring Joaquin Phoenix will make its way to theaters on October 4th, 2024.

‘DAYS OF OUR LIVES' IS LEAVING NBC FOR PEACOCK: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Days of Our Lives will no longer air on NBC as of September. The network's longest-running entertainment series will move to NBCUniversal's streaming platform Peacock on September 12th.

CONOR MCGREGOR JOINS JAKE GYLLENHAAL'S ‘ROAD HOUSE' REMAKE: Deadline reports that UFC champion Conor McGregor will make his acting debut in Jake Gyllenhaal's remake of the 1989 film Road House for Prime Video. McGregor joins a cast that includes Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery.

On Monday (August 1st), Kylee Yoshikawa posted a video to TikTok showing Jason Momoa wheeling a cart down the aisle of a plane and handing out water to passengers. "My aunty sent me this vid, i just thought i'd share," Yoshikawa captioned the post.

Momoa was handing out what seemed to be bottles of Mananalu water, a company which he owns, on a Hawaiian Airlines flight. He had a pink flower tucked behind his left ear. Social media users say that means he's taken.

Many people seemed to enjoy the clip. One fan called the Aquaman actor, "Aguaman." Another commented, "Jason Mimosa."

The drama between JoJo Siwa and Candace Cameron Bure continues. In a viral TikTok posted last month, Siwa flashed an image of Candace Cameron Bure on her phone in response to a "rudest celebrity" you've met prompt.

Bure later shared a video posted to her Instagram saying that she talked to Siwa and cleared things up, but the fallout continues.

On Monday (August 1st), Siwa's mother, Jessalynn, shared a clip from an older episode of her podcast—during which she addressed Bure refusing to take a picture with Siwa when she was 11 years old. "I talked about this on my podcast a while back. The recent story told wasn't quite right so here is the real version," Jessalyn captioned the video.

She added a pointed message for Bure: "At the end of the day this story , it's not about a simple photo it's about how you treat people. Real, genuine kindness always goes a long way. It's super easy to quote a Bible verse when everyone is looking at you but morals are what you have when no one is looking."

In an interview with Vogue published on Tuesday (August 2nd), Jane Fonda shared that she's "not proud of the fact" that she had a facelift in the past.

After commenting that she doesn't want people to fear aging, the 9 to 5 actress said, "I think that Grace and Frankie gives people, especially women, a lot of hope. That's why I always tell people what my age is because I want them to realize it."

Fonda continued, "Now as those words are coming out of my mouth, what I'm thinking with the second part of my brain is, Yeah, Fonda. You have money. You can afford a trainer. You can afford plastic surgery. You can afford facials. You can afford the things that help make you continue to look young. That is true. Money does help. Good genes and a lot of money, as somebody once said."

She added, "But then as I'm saying that, I'm thinking we all know a lot of women who are wealthy who've had all kinds of facelifts and things like that and they look terrible. I had a facelift and I stopped because I don't want to look distorted. I'm not proud of the fact that I had one."

Tyler Perry opened up to AARP The Magazine recently about his appreciation for the late Cicely Tyson. The Madea creator said he supported her during the later years of her life.

"I've never said this publicly, but I took care of Ms. Tyson for the last 15 years of her life," Perry said. "She was a proud woman, and the only reason I mention this is because she wrote it in her book. This woman had done so many amazing things, but she wasn't well compensated for it. She made $6,000 for Sounder, you know? I wanted to make sure she knew that there were people who valued her."

He added that he once paid her a million dollars for one day of work. "So, she did one day of work on my 2007 film Why Did I Get Married? I paid her a million dollars. I loved working with her. And it makes me feel great that I was in a position to give this incredible woman some security in her latter years."

The legendary actress died at the age of 96 in 2021. Perry honored her with an Instagram post at the time.

EDIE MCCLURG IS ALLEGEDLY A VICTIM OF ELDER ABUSE: According to court documents obtained by The New York Post, Ferris Bueller's Day Off actress Edie McClurg is allegedly a victim of elder abuse by Michael L. Ramos, a man who claimed to be her "longtime friend." McClurg lives in Los Angeles and suffers from dementia. Ramos reportedly tried to take her out of California to marry her, and he has also been accused of sexually assaulting McClurg's current caregiver.

TOM CRUISE APOLOGIZES FOR INTERRUPTING A COUPLE'S HIKE THEN JUMPS OFF A CLIFF: Sarah and Jason Haygarth, a couple in the UK, were on a hike with their dog recently when Tom Cruise dropped in on a helicopter. According to The U.S. Sun, Cruise said, "Sorry for disturbing your peaceful walk with all the noise. I like your dog." He then prepared to jump off a cliff. "Are you really going to jump off there?" Sarah said, to which Cruise replied, "See you later, folks." It is suspected that Cruise may have been filming a stunt for the next Mission: Impossible film.

KHLOE KARDASHIAN ‘LIKES' POST JOKING THAT KRIS JENNER LEAKED TAYLOR SWIFT'S CARBON EMISSIONS: Shortly after Kylie Jenner was called a "climate criminal" for taking a 17-minute flight on her private jet, a report was published by Yard stating that Taylor Swift is the celebrity with the worst private jet carbon emissions so far this year. Naturally, many people took to social media joking that Momager Kris Jenner was behind the report. According to BuzzFeed, Khloe Kardashian liked one of the posts that was shared on TikTok. The video features a caption that reads, "who leaked that Taylor Swift's private jet took 170 flights this year?" and shows Kris taking off her sunglasses and saying, "Kris F¬—king Jenner."

BRAD PITT COMMENTS ON WEARING A SKIRT TO ‘BULLET TRAIN' PREMIERE: At the Los Angeles premiere of Bullet Train Monday night (August 1st), Brad Pitt commented on the brown linen skirt he wore to the film's premiere in Berlin last month. WARNER BROS. SHELVES ‘BATGIRL:' Deadline reports that Batgirl will not be making it to theaters or HBO Max, even though the film is in the final stages of post-production. This may be due to Warner Bros. cutting back on films premiering on the streaming platform. The film stars Leslie Grace, Brendan Frasier, and Michael Keaton.

MARILYN MONROE ESTATE DEFENDS THE CASTING OF ANA DE ARMAS IN ‘BLONDE:' After the trailer for the Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde was released last week, some people took issue with the casting of Ana de Armas as the Hollywood icon on account of her accent. Today reports that the official Marilyn Monroe estate has released a public statement that supports Armas in the role. Marc Rosen, president of entertainment at Authentic Brands Group (ABG), which owns the Marilyn Monroe Estate, said, "Marilyn Monroe is a singular Hollywood and pop culture icon that transcends generations and history. Any actor that steps into that role knows they have big shoes to fill. Based on the trailer alone, it looks like Ana was a great casting choice as she captures Marilyn's glamour, humanity and vulnerability. We can't wait to see the film in its entirety!" Brad Pitt also commented on Armas portraying Monroe in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. "She is phenomenal in it. That's a tough dress to fill," he said.

SHOWTIME CANCELS ‘THE FIRST LADY:' According to Variety, the anthology series The First Lady has been canceled after just one season. A Showtime spokesperson told the publication, "Showtime can confirm that the anthology series ‘The First Lady' will not be moving forward with another season. We would like to applaud the artistry and commitment of our showrunner Cathy Schulman, director Susanne Bier, their fellow executive producers, our amazing cast, led by executive producer Viola Davis, Michelle Pfeiffer and Gillian Anderson, and our studio partner Lionsgate for their dedicated work in telling the unique stories of three remarkable leaders."

‘EVERYBODY STILL HATES CHRIS' ANIMATED SERIES TO APPEAR ON PARAMOUNT+ AND COMEDY CENTRAL: Deadline reports that the reimagined animated version of Chris Rock's autobiographical show Everybody Hates Chris was ordered straight to series by MTV. The new series, which is based on Rock's teenage years, will run on Paramount+ and Comedy Central.

More details are emerging regarding Johnny Depp's defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard. According to The Daily Beast, over 6,000 court documents were unsealed over the weekend, which the publication writes "does not appear to reflect too well on Team Depp."

The documents show that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor fought to wipe his text messages about burning and drowning Heard from the record, as well as testimony from most psychologists and therapists who believed Heard suffered intimate-partner violence at the hands of Depp.

Depp also tried to include nude photos of Heard as evidence, along with mentions of her "brief stint as an exotic dancer years before she met Mr. Depp." On Heard's end, she tried introducing Depp's erectile-dysfunction and oral and genital herpes medication into evidence.

The Edward Scissorhands actor also fought to keep his texts with Marilyn Manson out of court. In one exchange, Manson, who is accused of sexual abuse and rape by multiple women, sent a text to Depp in 2016 saying that he had an "amber 2.0" situation.

"Lindsay just puled sic an amber on me…please delete," Manson wrote. Depp responded, "I been reading A LOT of material on that and sociopathic behavior…it is fucking real my brother!! My ex-c—t is goddamn TEXTBOOK!!!"

Manson later wrote, "I got a serious police amber type scenarios with L's family. I'm fucking stressing. I don't know if you are back but I need asylum somewhere because I think the cops might be headed my way."

Almost two months after a jury in Virginia awarded Johnny Depp more than $10 million in compensatory damages, Amber Heard has quietly sold her California desert home.

The Yucca Valley estate has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and rests on six acres of land. It sold off-market for $1.05 million to the founders of Jorgensen & Company LLC, Rickard and Carol-Jeanette Jorgensen.

Heard was awarded $2 million in her countersuit against Depp, and with Virginia's cap on damages, she is now required to pay $5 million—money she has previously said she does not have.

In the Depp v. Heard documents that were unsealed over the weekend, it was revealed that the Aquaman actress refused to seek half of the $33 million Depp received for the fourth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean, despite her lawyer's encouraging her to do so during divorce proceedings.

Heard wrote in an email submitted to the court that she didn't pursue the $16.5 million because she was "amazingly true to her word, that this is not about the money." This evidence did not make it into the trial.

Jon Stewart is continuing his fight to pass a bill that will provide benefits to veterans. On Monday (August 1st), a video was released on Twitter showing the former Daily Show host shouting at conservative political commentator Jack Posobiec in D.C.

It is unclear exactly what happened before Stewart, in his own words, "lost his temper a little bit" and began shouting at the media personality. In a later video, it seems the pair made peace with one another, as it became clear Posobiec also wanted to get the bill passed.

"I felt like I was being trolled," Stewart said in the video. "I realized that the important thing is, we just got to get this done for these guys and get them over the finish line to get the health care they need."

On Monday's (August 1st) episode of The View, Whoopi Goldberg paid a special tribute to the legendary Nichelle Nichols, who died on Saturday (July 30th) at the age of 89. Nichols is most known for her role as Lieutenant Nyota Uhura on Star Trek: The Original Series. Goldberg later played Guinan on Star Trek: Next Generation.

"A trailblazer, a heroine, and an extraordinary woman—someone who inspired millions and millions of people but inspired me. Nichelle was the first Black person I'd ever seen who made it to the future," Goldberg said. She also referred to Nichols as "the one beacon that said, ‘Yes, we'll be there.'"

The Ghost actress added, "It just made me feel like that was an amazing thing and she helped propel other women to go into space. She was extraordinary and I was lucky enough to spend time with her over the years. She was my friend and she will be missed."

Zoe Saldana, who plays Uhura in a Star-Trek reboot, also honored the late Nichols on Monday (August 1st) with an Instagram post. "I'm saddened to learn of Nichelle Nichols' passing. We have lost a true star- a unique artist who was ahead of her time always. She's an icon, an activist and most importantly an amazing woman- who blazed a trail that has shown so many how to see women of color in a different light. Her strive for equality was unwavering," she wrote.

ANGELINA JOLIE'S DAUGHTER ZAHARA WILL ATTEND SPELMAN COLLEGE IN THE FALL: On Sunday (July 31st), Angelina Jolie announced that her daughter, Zahara Jolie-Pitt, will be attending Spelman College in the fall. "Zahara with her Spelman sisters! Congratulations to all new students starting this year," the Eternals star captioned an Instagram post. "A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl," she wrote of the historically Black college based in Atlanta.

KOURTNEY KARDASHIAN STRADDLES MEGAN FOX IN SKIMS PHOTOSHOOT: Megan Fox and Kourtney Kardashian took some steamy photos for a Skims photoshoot recently. On Monday (August 1st), Fox posted a series of behind-the-scenes shots showing the pair posing in a bathroom— including one where Kardashian straddles Fox on the toilet. "BTS of my skims shoot with Kourtney. Should we start an OnlyFans?" Fox captioned the post. Kardashian commented, "We're so cute," with a black heart emoji.

PAUL HAGGIS' SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE IS DISMISSED BY ITALIAN COURT: People reports that a judge in Lecce, Italy, ruled in favor of Crash director Paul Haggis in the sexual assault case brought against him. A statement by Haggis' lawyer reads, "After viewing the evidence and hearing arguments from both sides, the District Court of Lecce, an appellate court with three judges, unanimously rejected a prosecutor's appeal to have Haggis' house arrest reinstated." Haggis allegedly forced a "young woman, known by him from some time ago, to submit to sexual relations."

DOLPH LUNDGREN COMMENTS ON ‘DRAGO' CONTROVERSY: Following Sylvester Stallone's most recent post dragging Rocky producer Irwin Winkler over rights to the franchise, Dolph Lundgren posted to Instagram to share his side of the story. "Just to set the record straight regarding a possible Drago spinoff. There's no approved script, no deals in place, no director and I was personally under the impression that my friend Sly Stallone was involved as a producer or even as an actor. ‘THE FLASH' TO END WITH NINTH SEASON: According to The Hollywood Reporter, CW's The Flash will end after its ninth season. Executive producer and showrunner Eric Wallace said in a statement Monday (August 1st), "Nine seasons! Nine years of saving Central City while taking audiences on an emotional journey full of heart, humor and spectacle. And now Barry Allen has reached the starting gate for his last race. So many amazing people have given their talents, time and love to bring this wonderful show to life each week. CMA Entertainer of the Year, Luke Bryan and one of the biggest names in NFL history, Peyton Manning will join forces to host The 56th Annual CMA Awards. Luke made the announcement on Monday (8-1) while guest hosting Live with Kelly and Ryan.

Through a press release, Luke stated, "We have become great friends through the years and what he brings to the table is gonna make it even more of a blast."

Manning, has attended the show in the past and commented, "I am such a huge fan of Country Music, so to have the chance to stand among so many incredibly talented artists is an absolute honor."
The star-studded event will air live from Nashville on November 9^th on ABC. This will be Luke's second consecutive year to host the CMA Awards and Manning's first.

Nichelle Nichols, one of the first Black women to play a major role on primetime television, died on Saturday (July 30th) at the age of 89. Nichols was most known for her work on Star Trek: The Original Series as Lieutenant Nyota Uhura, a role that Martin Luther King Jr. referred to as "the first non-stereotypical role portrayed by a Black woman in television history."

Nichols' son, Kyle Johnson, released a statement to her official website Sunday (July 31st). "Last night, my mother, Nichelle Nichols, succumbed to natural causes and passed away. Her light however, like the ancient galaxies now being seen for the first time, will remain for us and future generations to enjoy, learn from, and draw inspiration," he wrote. "Hers was a life well lived and as such a model for us all."

The trailblazing actress portrayed one of the first interracial kisses on US television with her Star Trek costar William Shatner. Many stars took to social media to honor her legacy.

George Takei wrote, "I shall have more to say about the trailblazing, incomparable Nichelle Nichols, who shared the bridge with us as Lt. Uhura of the USS Enterprise, and who passed today at age 89. For today, my heart is heavy, my eyes shining like the stars you now rest among, my dearest friend." He added, "We lived long and prospered together." Lynda Carter, Kate Mulgrew, and Stacey Abrams also honored the late actress.

Jennifer Lopez's first husband, Ojani Noa, opened up to The Daily Mail recently, sharing his thoughts on his former wife's recent marriage to Ben Affleck. Noa met Lopez while he was waiting tables in Miami after fleeing Cuba as a refugee, and the pair were later married in 1997.

"Ben is husband number four. I was husband number one and she told me I was the love of her life. When we lay in bed on our wedding night, she said we would be together forever," he told the publication.

Four months after he slapped Chris Rock at the 94th annual Academy Awards, Will Smith is attempting to make amends. On Friday (July 29th), the King Richard actor released a video apology to Rock.

"I reached out to Chris, and the message that came back is he's not ready to talk, but when he is, he will reach out. I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable, and I'm here whenever you're ready to talk," Smith said in the YouTube video.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor shared that he was "fogged out" following the infamous slap—and this is why he didn't apologize to Rock during his acceptance speech for Best Actor.

"Disappointing people is my central trauma. I hate when I let people down, so it hurts psychologically and emotionally to know that I didn't live up to people's image and impression of me. The work I'm trying to do is I am deeply remorseful, and I'm trying to be remorseful without being ashamed of myself," Smith said.

CHRIS ROCK JOKES THAT HE GOT HIT BY ‘SUGE SMITH'

Hours after Will Smith released his video apology, Chris Rock made a joke comparing Smith to the former Death Row Records executive Suge Knight, who is currently incarcerated.

At Atlanta's Fox Theater on Friday night (July 29th), Rock said, "Everybody is trying to be a f—ing victim. If everybody claims to be a victim, then nobody will hear the real victims."

Rock continued, "Even me getting smacked by Suge Smith … I went to work the next day, I got kids."

Carroll appeared on shows such as The Jimmy Durante Show, The Danny Thomas Show, Laverne & Shirley, and ER. She also voiced Ursula in The Little Mermaid, a role she said was one of her favorites. Carroll is survived by her daughters, Kerry Karsian and Tara Karsian, and her granddaughter, Evan Karsian-McCormick.

HBO MAX CANCELS ‘GORDITA CHRONICLES:' Today reports that Gordita Chronicles has been cancelled after just one season. Executive producers Eva Longoria and Zoe Saldaña shared that they are "heartbroken" by the news. In a joint statement, Longoria and Saldaña said, "We are heartbroken by the larger programming changes at HBO Max that will not allow our special show that is ‘Gordita Chronicles,' showrun by LatinX comedy powerhouse Brigitte Muñoz-Liebowitz, to have a second season at its original home. Despite being an Emmy-nominated actress, Sydney Sweeney says she doesn't feel financially secure.

The Euphoria star told The Hollywood Reporter, "If I wanted to take a six-month break, I don't have income to cover that. I don't have someone supporting me, I don't have anyone I can turn to, to pay my bills or call for help."

She adds, "I have to give 5 percent to my lawyer, 10 percent to my agents, 3 percent or something like that to my business manager. I have to pay my publicist every month, and that's more than my mortgage."

According to the actress, "They don't pay actors like they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals."
