/- Sports Illustrated has named the newest golf course at McLemore as the #1 NEW Course in America. The course is called “The Keep”, and it has ALSO been named #25, on the list of ALL golf courses in America, by “Golf Week Magazine”.
/- 1 in 6 households in Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia may not know where their next meal is coming from. The Chattanooga Food Bank has provided 16 million meals, and they’ve helped more families these past few months than ever before. Get involved by volunteering or donating, at ChattFoodBank.org
/- The Austin Hatcher Foundation offers support for pediatric cancer patients, and their families, in many different ways, helping them cope with today AND with the future. Their next fund-raiser is called “The Bubbles Of Fun Run”, and it’s in late February at the Tennessee River Park. Sign up today, and help raise money for young cancer patients, by visiting HatcherFoundation.org and clicking “Special Events”.
/- Red Bank needs volunteers to help clean up their community, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday January 19th… Meet at the Red Bank City Park on Redding Road at 10am, on January 19th, and your supplies will be assigned to you. Clean-Up Day will last until 12:30 that afternoon, and you’ll be outdoors, so dress warmly and bring your own water bottle. That’s January 19th in Red Bank.
/- The annual Tennessee Sand Hill Crane Festival is confirmed for January 17th and 18th in Birchwood. The event is free and goes from 8am until 4pm both days, with free shuttle buses running from the Birchwood Community Center. The festival spotlights the thousands of Sand Hill Cranes that spend much of the winter in our area.
/- The final numbers are in, and TDOT announces that more than 77,000 pounds of trash were picked up during “No Trash November”.. 2,400 volunteers took part in 205 different Pick Up Events, and their efforts surpassed LAST year’s 75,000 pounds of litter!
