Moving Back In With Your Parents? Four Must Do Tips
Hopefully dads got some quality time with their kids yesterday. But what if they’ve got much MORE quality time in store?
Researchers at North Carolina State talked to a bunch of people who recently had to MOVE BACK IN with their parents. And they came up with a few tips that can make the whole experience a lot easier on everyone . . .
1. Set clear expectations. For example, are you going to pay them any rent, or help with bills? Whatever the situation is, just make sure you’re all on the same page.
2. Contribute in some way. Even if it’s just helping with chores, make sure you help out in one way or another. If you don’t, they’ll start to feel like you’re taking advantage.
3. Set a timeline. Sit down with them and talk about how long you’re planning to stay. It might also help to talk about other timelines, like career goals or how long you need to save up money.
4. Act like an adult. Don’t fall back into old habits, or throw raging parties when they’re not home. Make sure you’re respectful and remember it’s THEIR place, not yours.
