The Impulse Buys Americans Regret the Most

Here’s a fun game: Open your closet and count how many things you swore you’d wear someday. Now how many of those do you regret?
According to a new study, the average American spends around $150 a month on unplanned purchases. That’s close to $1,800 a year.
The study focused on Reddit discussions about buyer’s remorse . . . and the Top Ten most regrettable purchases are:
1. Unworn clothes . . . 86% of people said they own clothes they’ve never worn.
2. Juicers . . . it’s because cleanup is such a hassle.
3. Shoes and high heels . . . especially if it was purchased for a “special occasion.”
4. Handbags . . . if it’s too flashy or expensive, you might regret it.
5. Beauty and skincare products . . . they can expire before they’re even opened.
6. Craft supplies and yarn . . . people are still buying yarn?
7. A home sewing machine . . . it’s an awesome idea, but so much work.
8. Cameras . . . they’re bulky and our phones are usually just as good.
9. Notebooks and journals . . . despite our good intentions, they go unused.
10. Camping and backpacking gear . . . it sounds fun until you have to lug all that stuff to a campground.
So maybe next time before you buy something . . . ask yourself one question: “Is this going to end up living in my closet?”
