The Key to Improving Your Marriage Is . . . Roller Coasters and Horror Movies?

Forget marriage counseling. If you REALLY want to improve your marriage, hit up Six Flags and then watch “Saw 11: Yep, Still Sawing”.

Why? Studies have shown that doing scary and exciting things together can increase your ATTRACTION to each other.

It’s because of a phenomenon called “misattribution of arousal.” Basically, when you do something scary, your heart rate and blood pressure go up, you become more alert, and your fight-or-flight instincts kick in.

And even though that’s all happening because of the activity, our brains associate the EXCITEMENT and AROUSAL with the person we’re doing the activity with.

So that makes us feel stronger feelings about our significant others . . . even though they weren’t ACTUALLY the one responsible for us having those heightened sensations.
