The annual Hamilton County Tree Lighting Ceremony will be Tuesday Nov. 26th, beginning at 4pm, on the Courthouse lawn. Santa Claus AND The Chattanooga Elf will be there, with lots of holiday-themed activities. Food trucks too. And the lighting will take place as the sun goes down, at about 5pm, Tuesday the 26th. Everyone is invited!
The 161st anniversary of “The Battles For Chattanooga” will be remembered this Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, the 23rd 24th and 25th.. Park Rangers and Park Staff will be leading lots of different activities, hikes, and demonstrations. And they need volunteers as well. Miller Park will be a “Winter Wonderland”, with 80 Frazier Fir trees that are decorated by area businesses and non-profits. The trees will be lit up on Wednesday Nov. 27th and will stay lit until January 2nd. This is sponsored by the Better Business Bureau and is called the “Miller Park Festive Forest”.
The day after Thanksgiving, many Tennessee State Parks are offering FREE guided hikes, for all ages and walking abilities. Find out more online at TNstateparks.info/DATH (which stands for Day After Thanksgiving).
Don’t miss an afternoon of exciting wrestling, when the Chattanooga Mocs host the Princeton Tigers, this Saturday Nov. 23rd at 12noon. The wrestling matches will be held at McClellan Gym on Douglas Street, on campus.
“Giving Tuesday” is always the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and it’s a day set aside to donate to the non-profit of your choice. This year’s Giving Tuesday will be December 3rd.
