Machine Gun Kelly Biopic Nominated For Seven Razzies

Machine Gun Kelly's biopic, Good Mourning has been nominated for seven Razzies for the Golden Raspberry Awards. Though this may sound positive, it's quite the opposite. The award show's goal is to honor the year's worst movies.

Good Mourning is nominated for Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, and two nominations for Worst Supporting Actor. Those nods going to Mod Sun and Pete Davidson. The movie is also up for Worst Actor, Worst Director, and Worst Onscreen Combo.

The only film that had more nominations than MGK was the Marilyn Monroe biopic called Blonde.

Axl Rose Breaks His Silence On Lisa Marie Presley Memorial

Axl Rose has broken his silence after eulogizing his friend, the late-Lisa Marie Presley. The Guns N' Roses frontman surprised many by not only speaking at Presley's January 22nd memorial at Graceland -- but by performing "November Rain," a song she had previous suggested be played at her funeral.

Lisa Marie, the 54-year-old mother of four and only child of Elvis Presley, died in Los Angeles on January 12th after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Speaking to ET, Axl Rose shed light on his emotions while paying tribute to Lisa Marie: "I didn't really know I was going to speak, or anything, and I still feel like don't know that I deserved to be here, but, y'know, I wanted to do right by her and the family and the fans. So, it meant a lot. I was pretty nervous and emotional up there about it. Y'know, when I wrote it, I was calm -- but not saying it. It was my understanding she had actually talked about if this situation. . . so that's why, y'know, I was asked to do it. Of course, I had to be here." (29 OC: . . . to be here)

Paul McCartney Drops Trailer For '1964' Photo Book

Paul McCartney has just posted a teaser for his first-ever book of Beatles-era photos, which chronicles early-"Beatlemania," titled, 1964: Eyes Of The Storm. The tome, which will be published on June 13th, features 275-shots of long unseen "Macca" photographs spotlighting six city portfolios -- Liverpool, London, Paris, New York, Washington, D.C. and Miami -- along with McCartney's personal recollections of the photos.

An exhibit of the photos will be shown in England's National Portrait Gallery this summer.

On April 15th, 1964, the then-21-year-old Paul McCartney sat down with David Frost and spoke candidly about the Beatles' recent accent to the top of the charts: "We used to, sort of, think of things in stages -- still do, I think. When we first started off playing in the Cavern and things, I thought, 'First of all let's get a record contract' -- we all did. We got record contract and thought, 'Let's get a Number One hit' -- 'got one of them (laughs) and went on. Y'know, we do it in stages."

Quickies: Miley Cyrus, SZA, Lizzo, Blackpink's Lisa

SZA posted online to Miley Cyrus and congratulated her on her recent chart success. She followed it with a big surprise to her fans, she wrote that she was excited "to work together." It isn't clear if by "work together," SZA meant a collaboration on Miley's new album, which is due in March, or maybe something else. Miley's new single "Flowers" just debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In a new Instagram photo, Lizzo shared yet another new hairdo. The 34-year-old is now sporting a shoulder-length bob haircut with flipped-out edges. She posed in cat-eye sunglasses and showed off her streaks of platinum blonde and bangs. Last month, Lizzo had a mullet cut, which she raved was her new obsession.

Guinness Book of World Records announced that Blackpink's Lisa has three new entries for last year's accomplishments. First, she became the very first solo K-pop winner at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Second, she was technically nominated twice in the same category, thanks to Blackpink's own nod. And third, she set the new high water mark on Instagram with a massive 86.3 million followers.

Gilbert O'Sullivan Heading Back To The U.S. By Popular Demand

Back by popular demand is beloved singer-songwriter Gilbert O'Sullivan, who's returning to the U.S. for an eight-city run. O'Sullivan kicks things off on March 11th in Boston with the trek winding down on March 22nd in Nashville. Along the way he'll be making stops in New York City, Philadelphia, Cleveland, St. Louis, Chicago, and Atlanta.

Gilbert O'Sullivan is best remembered on this side of the pond for his five Top 40 hits, including 1973's Top Ten favorite "Get Down," the previous year's Top Two smash, "Claire," and his six-week 1972 chart-topping classic -- "Alone Again" (Naturally)." The track topped the American charts for a whopping six weeks, displacing yet another monster 1972 classic "Lean On Me" by Bill Withers, which enjoyed a three-week run on top of the Billboard Hot 100.

Gilbert O'Sullivan's recent studio set, Driven, snagged highly-coveted four-star reviews from both Mojo and Record Collector with a five-star rave from Shindig! Among the many highlights on the set are collaborations with guest performers KT Tunstall on "Take Love" and Simply Red's Mick Hucknall on "Let Bygones Be Bygones."

We caught up with O'Sullivan and pressed him on how he's been able to remain ageless as a singer, world-class songsmith, and record maker: "Y'know, you have to have the melody. Without the melody -- it's all very well being a good lyricist, but getting the melody is the hardest thing. So, therefore, if you're up for doing it -- if you're up for working hard, up for looking for the melody, working hard to get it, then I think you can compete with anybody. As long as you can come up with that, there's no reason why you need to be discounted and looked upon as the past as opposed to the present."

JUST ANNOUNCED: Gilbert O'Sullivan North American tour dates (subject to change):

March 11 - Boston, MA - City Winery Boston
March 12 - New York, NY - City Winery New York City
March 15 - Philadelphia, PA - City Winery Philadelphia

Metallica Throwing Global Listening Party For New LP

Metallica has announced a global listening party for its upcoming album, 72 Seasons. The entire album will be played at the April 13th event -- one day before its street date.

According to the official announcement:

The metal titans have partnered with Trafalgar Releasing -- which previously helmed the 2019 cinematic release of Metallica's S&M2 concert -- to premiere their 12th album and first since 2016's Hardwired ... To Self-Destruct. Each song on the album will feature a music video and commentary from the band.

Tickets for the event can be purchased via https://www.metallica.film/.

Frontman James Hetfield told us a while back that the loyalty that fans show for Metallica really goes both ways for them: "Y'know, when I see three generations out in the crowd, and they're all three singing, like, 'Master Of Puppets,' it's like, 'Really? You guys really like this? Okay.' I've got to believe them at some point (laughs). But it still blows my mind to go out there and, no matter what country you're in, they are trying hard to sing along with it, and they just want to be a part of, man."

Live Nation President Apoligizes To Taylor Swift And Her Fans During Senate Hearing

Live Nation's President and CFO Joe Berchtold apologized to Taylor Swift and her fans for the Eras Tour ticketing debacle during a Senate Judiciary Committee held in a hearing on January 24th.

In her opening statement, Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said, "As million of Taylor Swift fans found out last fall there are few consequences for failing to deliver the services."

She added, "To have a strong capitalist system, you have to have competition You can't have too much consolidation — something that, unfortunately for this country, as an ode to Taylor Swift, I will say, we know ‘all too well.'"

In November 2022, Ticketmaster repeatedly crashed during the Eras Tour presale when 14 million people hit up the site when it was only supposed to be open to 1.5 million verified Swifties.

Berchol blamed scalpers and commented, "We apologize to the fans. We apologize to Ms. Swift. We need to do better and we will do better."

During the hearing, Klobuchar wasn't the only senator who quoted Swift's lyrics when addressing the CFO.

As documented by Mother Jones, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) said. "May I suggest, respectfully, that Ticketmaster look in the mirror and say, ‘I'm the problem. It's me,'" he added, citing lyrics to Swift's 2022 hit, "Anti-Hero."

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) also chimed in with a quote from Midnights, saying, "Karma's a relaxing thought, Aren't you envious that for you it's not."

Paul McCartney News Roundup

'EYES OF THE STORM' PHOTO BOOK

Set for release just five days before his 81st birthday is Paul McCartney's first photo book, titled Eyes Of The Storm. The book -- culled from photos discovered from his Beatles days -- will be published on June 13th and features 275 photos shot as "Beatlemania" began to take the world by storm as seen-through the lens of "Macca's" 35mm camera.

Showbiz411.com reported, "The photos were taken in six cities: New York, Washington, London, Liverpool, Miami, and Paris. The book will have an introduction by Paul, plus essays by Jill Lepore and Nicholas Cullinan."

Paul McCartney was asked why he thinks that 60 years after the first Beatles recording sessions, their music continues to inspire the generations: "I'm not sure why -- it's really quite an amazing thing. When we started with the Beatles, we thought we might last two years. But then it was 10, and the music, it was 20, 30, 40 (years). And I think the only answer that I can come up with is that the music's well structured, it's well written. And so, when I play it now, I think, 'well this isn't bad, this is good -- y'know, whoever wrote this was clever.'"

CARNEGIE HALL TRIBUTE

"The Music Of Paul McCartney" tribute concert will take place on March 15th at New York's prestigious Carnegie Hall. The annual benefit concert produced by Michael Dorf will have current Rolling Stones drummer Steve Jordan serving as the event's musical director with performances by Graham Nash, Natalie Merchant, Lyle Lovett, Glen Hansard, Lake Street Drive, and Bettye LaVette, among others.

"The Music Of Paul McCartney at Carnegie Hall" is the 18th annual "Music Of" benefit for music education for underserved youth. For ticket info, log on to: https://musicof.org/

We caught up with Paul McCartney not too long ago and asked him what he considered his greatest achievement: "My most significant achievement is my children, they are very significant and boy. But it was easy achieving that (laughter). But work? Y'know, I don't know. It's a very difficult question 'cause I've been lucky to have been involved in so many cool things. I think one of the most magical things, I think a lot of people in music, you kind of end up believing in a kind of a mystery and a magic, 'cause there is that to it."

He explained, "You don't even know. You guys just jump up on people like this…"

He continued, "The first time I ever took medication — was because I got mad at paparazzi… the same one that shot Britney Spears… There has to be some kind of balance, some type of conversation."

Ye added, "I can't live in California — and in my life — like I'm some sort of caged animal to be judged and photographed…"

Nikki Sixx told us he's always been proud of Motley Crue being known as an L.A. band: "Y'know, I used to say we were from Hollywood because we started in Hollywood, but we're from Los Angeles. Y'know, of course, being the 'Saints Of Los Angeles' is a little. . . tongue in cheek? 'Just doesn't have the same ring as the 'Sinners Of Los Angeles,' y'know."

Rihanna Earns First Oscar Nod For 'Lift Me Up'

Rihanna has earned her first Oscar nomination for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever original song "Lift Me Up." The song has been nominated for Best Original Song. It was writted by Nigerian singer Tems, Oscar winner Ludwig Göransson, and ‘Wakanda Forever' director Ryan Coogler -- who are all nominated for the award alongside Rihanna.

Tems revealed in a statement, "After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I've lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them… Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor."

The song serves as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman who played King T'Challa in the original "Black Panther."

Boseman died in 2020 at the age of 43 after a four-year battle with colon cancer.

Elvis Costello And Billy Gibbons Set For Benefit Show

Elvis Costello & The Imposters along with ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons will headline a benefit show on March 12th at the Brooklyn Bowl Nashville. The concert, which also features Imposter Charlie Sexton on his own, as well as Bill Evans, Keith Carlock, and Rolling Stones bassist Daryl Jones, will benefit the Musician Treatment Foundation.

Elvis Costello shed light on his decades as a hard working musician, songwriter, singer, and bandleader: "I don't really have a choice, but I know people who really feel that way about music and don't have the opportunities that I have. So, some of it is luck, some of it is what you've been given -- and some of it just is work. That is the part of it that people miss that there is just a lot of work. The playing the show is joyfully or maniacally or whatever frame of mind you're in. . . There's a lot of miles and there's a lot of thinking. I have to tell people, 'When it looks like I'm just sitting still, I'm pondering sometimes. 'Cause that's what I do. I live on my wits."

ZZ Top kicks off its 2023 dates on February 4th in Taupo, New Zealand at Taupo Amphitheatre Riverside Park.

Elvis Costello next performs on February 9th at Manhattan's Gramercy Theatre.

Statues Of Mick Jagger & Keith Ricahrds To Be Errected In Their Hometown

New bronze statues of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are set to be erected this April in their hometown of Dartford, England, according to the BBC. Both Rolling Stones co-founders attended Wentworth Primary School in Dartford, with Jagger going on to study at Dartford Grammar. The pair reconnected in 1961 on a platform at Dartford Train Station.

Dartford Borough Council leader Jeremy Kite explained, "We want to demonstrate that people can come from a very small town like Dartford and go out and change the world. The town has a really good relationship with them. I think people are going to love it."

Sculptor Amy Goodman added: "Out of the blue I was shortlisted. There was no particular remit. I thought their music is their love, their passion. So I thought them actually performing, the chemistry of them on stage -- I thought that's how I wanted it."

Although Jagger and Richards were casual friends as schoolboys -- Keith Richards admitted it was only in their teens with a shared love of rock and blues that they truly became "brothers": "We used to live very close, y'know, so we used to meet in a little corner of the block, a little place to play and that's where we'd, y'know, 'Hi Mick,' Hi Keith.' We re-met -- I was heavily into exactly the same thing that Mick was into."

Van Morrison Drops New Single, Announces 'Moving On Skiffle' Album

Van Morrison has dropped his latest single, "Worried Man Blues," as a teaser to his upcoming album, Moving On Skiffle, set to drop on March 10th. The album focuses on Morrison's childhood favorites from the "skiffle" era. The UK-based skiffle genre was an early-1950's, fast-paced, slightly Celtic folk music played primarily on bathtub bases and old washboards.

For the new set, Morrison has brought the traditional classics into the now with full arrangements and proper instrumentation.

Van Morrison was asked if albums are still relevant to him in the age of digital downloads and streaming: "They're still relevant to me, because I'm not a download artist. Download is a very small percentage of what the people want (from) my product. It's a very small percentage, so, it's mainly CD's and some vinyl. I just kind of go back. . . I just listen to the stuff that got me into it in the first place, y'know, the jazz, some blues. There's nothing new, no."

The pop star answered, "Everyone seems to think that I'm Adele…drag. Cause we've never been seen in the same room together. And if you slow down her voice, it sounds maybe a bit like mine. So people think that we're the same person, and I'm just in drag right now."
