James Howard

James came out of his momma laughing and smiling and we believe he was really born in a 1970 green Volkswagen beetle in Chattanooga (he has a few VW bugs). When James is not on the radio or television he’s grilling on the back porch with his two daughters, Lucy and Gracie, wife Christy and dog Pan. James has been with WDEF radio for 30 years. He says he was six years old when he started working at Sunny, we don’t believe this one either. James is a commercial pilot and always says yes to rescuing animals from all over the country, from red pandas for the Chattanooga Zoo to an injured crow for the Nature Center. James has a passion for visiting local troops during the holidays and oh yea, ice cream!!!

His favorite time on the radio is when he gets to interact with listeners during the morning show and moments with our miracle kids with Children’s Hospital at Erlanger. He’s an author, storyteller and loves his church. His wife Christy has epilepsy and they are very involved with the Epilepsy Foundation of Southeastern Tennessee. James is a Chattanoogan through and through and feels very fortunate to have grown up in this beautiful area.

Kim Carson

She originally started in her hometown of Carrollton, GA and then had shows in Montgomery, AL, Ashville, NC and Columbus, GA. She moved to Chattanooga in 2001 and made her debut on one the local country stations. During her tenure on that station, she was named the 2005 Country Music Association Radio Personality of the Year, a top five finalist for ACM Personality of the Year and helped the station achieve four CMA Station of the Year awards.
Kim joined the Sunny morning show in 2011 and spent 5 years as part of “James and Kim in the Morning”. For a brief two year period, Kim took over as Marketing Director for Hamilton Place and Northgate Mall. Kim rejoined the Sunny morning show in 2018 and was thrilled to be back “home” with her family at Bahakel Communications. Kim is also on afternoons with Robin Daniels.
Kim got married on May 4th 2023 and got a huge kick out of saying “May the fourth be with you”. She and husband John are avid travelers, gardeners and self taught chefs although they spend most of their free time at the basketball court or baseball field with her son Holden who is a high school student.
