I feel like it's got Journey all over it." (Press release)

Red Hot Chili Peppers Release Japan-Only Bonus Track

Red Hot Chili Peppers have released the new track -- "Nerve Flip" -- as an exclusive Japanese bonus track from the new Unlimited Love album. Last month Unlimited Love, debuted at Number One, marking the band's first chart-topper since 2006's Stadium Arcadium.

With such an extensive back catalog to choose from, we asked singer Anthony Kiedis a while back how the group goes about making up a setlist -- and he had a good laugh with us: "We use a supercomputer. It's the size of a room. We plug all of our songs into it, it spits out a set list. Whether we like it or not, that's it for the night."

Red Hot Chili Peppers next perform with Nas and Thundercat on Friday (June 10th) in Nijmegen, Netherlands at Goffertpark

Flashback: Brian Jones Leaves The Rolling Stones

It was 53 years ago today (June 8th, 1969) that Brian Jones, a founding member of the Rolling Stones, officially quit the band. Jones, a blues enthusiast, both named and led the original group, which included Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman, and keyboardist Ian Stewart. Shortly after turning professional, Stewart, whose looks didn't fit with the band, signed on as their road manager.

Jones played a pivotal role in the Stones' success, with his blond hair and good looks, as well as his ability to play any instrument seemingly within minutes of picking it up. Jones, although uncredited, co-wrote and played the recorders on "Ruby Tuesday," sitar and tamboura on "Paint It, Black," dulcimer on "I Am Waiting" and "Lady Jane," the lead guitar riff on "Get Off My Cloud," harpsichord on "Yesterday's Papers," the trumpet and trombone on "Something Happened To Me Yesterday," the marimba on "Under My Thumb," and the autoharp on "You Got The Silver."

Jones began losing control of the group when Jagger and Richards began their songwriting partnership in 1965, which slowly moved the band away from Jones' blues-based direction. By 1966, Jones' mental instability and drug abuse had become a liability to the Stones. Due to his substance abuse problems, Jones frequently missed tour dates and recording sessions, and was unable to function within the band when he did attend.

Bassist Bill Wyman wrote about Jones in his 1991 autobiography Stone Alone, saying, "For two years not only had he become physically vulnerable and battered by his drug busts, but within the Stones he was sad, isolated and obviously unhappy."

Mick Jagger spoke about the sad deterioration of Brian Jones in the last few years of his short life: "Keith and I took drugs, but Brian took too many drugs of the wrong kind and he wasn't functioning as a musician. I don't think he was that interested in contributing to the Rolling Stones anymore. You certainly didn't know if he was going to turn up and what state he was going to be. . . and then, what was he going to be able to do in that state. What job could you give him?"

We asked Lindsey Buckingham what that classic early-era means to him as a Stones fan: "The peak for Brian Jones, before he kind of started to slide downhill. . . Y'know those albums, I mean, the singles -- everything -- have a kind of European influence. But, y'know, the fact that Brian Jones as a bandmember could articulate that it in a different way and was more of a multi-musician and could bring in colors and influence the band in what I thought was a very positive way. Those albums are some of my favorite Stones albums."

On June 8th, 1969, Jagger, Richards, and drummer Charlie Watts fired Jones. They claimed that due to legal problems, Jones wouldn't be able to attain a work visa for their upcoming U.S. tour.

Two decades later, in the Stones' 1989 documentary 25x5: The Continuing Adventures Of The Rolling Stones, Richards recalled edging Jones out of the band permanently: "It was very important to us the fact that if we were going to go back out on the road behind a new record that we resolve this thing with Brian. So Mick and I had to go down and sort of tell Brian, virtually like, 'Hey, you're fired.' The fact that he was expecting it made it kind of easier, I guess. Y'know, he wasn't surprised. I don't even think he took it all in. He was already up in the stratosphere. But there was no serious way that we could consider going on the road with Brian. But at the same time, nobody expected it to happen just like that. "

The late-Charlie Watts admitted he felt deep guilt over firing Jones: "He got much nicer just before he died, y'know the last few years of his life. I felt even sorrier for him for what we did to him then. We took his one thing away which was being in a band."

Jones agreed to a settlement, which gave him a lump sum of nearly $200,000, as well as a yearly salary of $40,000 for as long as the band stayed together. He was also allowed to issue a statement saying that he had quit the band. He then reportedly tried to form a supergroup with John Lennon, who had stayed friendly with Jones after his firing.

Jones died July 3rd, 1969, at the age of 27. He was found dead at the bottom of the swimming pool at his Cotchford Farm home, in Hartford, England.

For years there have been conspiracy theories about what went on the night Jones died, including several suggesting foul play. In 2006 a film focusing on Jones' last days, titled Stoned, opened in theaters.

In 2020, the definitive chronicle of Brian Jones came to DVD and major streaming outlets. Rolling Stone: Life And Death Of Brian Jones by Danny Garcia is clearly not sanctioned by the Rolling Stones, and features no original music. What it does have is people who knew Jones throughout his life, including testimonials from Stones tour manager Sam Cutler, Jones' daughter Barbara Anna Marion, Dick Taylor and the late-Phil May of the Pretty Things, and Jones' confidante Prince Stash Klossowski de Rola, among an assortment of British journalists.

Flashback: Paul McCartney & Wings' 'Band On The Run' Single Tops The Charts

It was 48 years ago today (June 8th, 1974) that Paul McCartney & Wings' "Band On The Run" hit Number One on the Billboard Hot 100, topping the charts for one week. The song marked McCartney's third post-Beatles chart-topping single, following 1971's "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" and 1973's "My Love."

By that point, McCartney's chart-success was way ahead of his former-bandmates, with a total of eight solo U.S. Top Ten hits under his belt, with John Lennon only scoring two, George Harrison with three, and Ringo Starr coming closest with a total of five American Top Ten smashes.

Band On The Run, which was McCartney's fifth solo album, was his biggest post-Beatles critical and commercial success, was mired in trouble before it began production. While Wings was rehearsing the new material in Scotland during the summer of 1973, guitarist Henry McCullough quit the band after an argument with McCartney over how a solo should be played. Then -- just prior to the band leaving for Lagos, Nigeria to record the album -- drummer Denny Seiwell phoned McCartney saying that he too was quitting.

McCartney took over drum duties on the album and shared the majority of instrumentation with Wings co-founder Denny Laine. Laine recalled that the two-man band approach came naturally to him and McCartney: "We did that with Band On The Run a lot, where he would pick up an instrument, I would pick up another instrument and we'd put the backing track down. And then figure it out after that."

Denny Laine recalled that the album's title song was a perfect example of how he and McCartney laid down the basic tracks for Band On The Run: "As far as I can remember, it was just me on guitar -- on acoustic -- and Paul on drums. Maybe we added those extra guitars afterwards, I mean, and just mixed the other stuff out."

In early 1975, the "Band On The Run" track earned Paul McCartney & Wings the Grammy award for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus. Engineer Geoff Emerick's work on the Band On The Run album snagged the Grammy for Best Engineered Recording, Non Classical.

"Band On The Run" has been a mainstay of Paul McCartney's concert setlists since the 1975/1976 "Wings Over The World" tour.

Gene Simmons: Ace Frehley & Peter Criss Have Turned Down Offers To Join Kiss Onstage

Gene Simmons revealed that both Ace Frehley and Peter Criss have passed on making cameos with Kiss on their ongoing farewell tour. Simmons spoke to Classic Rock about the two co-founders in relation to the band's "End Of The Road Tour" and explained, "I was hoping that Ace and Peter, at least for that, would be with us. It would be the saddest thing of all if they chose not to be there. But such is life. I hope and wish they'll get over the victim, 'look what happened to me.' No, nothing happened to you. These were all decisions you made. They were in and out of the band three different times. Can you believe that? How many chances in life do you want? That's the saddest thing."

Simmons went on to say, "There are fans that are still angry with us about Ace and Peter. They just don't understand. I personally have asked Ace and Peter a number of times: 'Hey, this is the last time around. We've still got another hundred cities or so to go. Why don't you jump on stage with us?' And they said no. . . More than once."

Paul Stanley added, "It would be great to have Ace and/or Peter participate at some point if they were interested, and if their requests or demands were realistic and not disruptive to the overall spirit of this tour."

When pressed as to whether this is truly Kiss' final go-'round -- especially in view of 2000's already billed "farewell" tour, Stanley was quick to explain: "Circumstances are very different. When we did that farewell tour, we in essence drank our own Kool-Aid. The idea that the band couldn't continue without the four original members was absurd. Frankly, we were miserable as a foursome. It was horrible. It turned into years of drudgery and uncertainty whether everybody was going to make it to the lobby, let alone the stage. And so what we were basically doing was putting down the horse. Gene and I just felt: 'Okay, we need to stop.' And then it dawned on me that people didn't want us gone, and we didn't actually want to be gone. We didn't want to say farewell to the band, we wanted to say farewell to two members."

Paul Stanley told that as excited as he is to perform with Kiss, wrapping up the band's life on the road is far from being a heartbreaking event for him: "There's nothing bittersweet about this tour -- it's all sweet. What I've been given and what we've accomplished, and how we've been rewarded is indescribable. And look, I'm not Yoda -- I'm gonna say the end of something is the beginning of something else. I'm not going to change who I am and I'm not going to change my trajectory, and everything will go on."

Kiss performs tonight (June 7th) in Paris at Accor Arena.

Their next U.S. show is set for September 21st at West Palm Beach's IThink Financial Amphitheatre.

Steve Miller, Mariah Carey, & Eurythmics Lead 2022 Songwriters Hall Of Fame Inductees

Steve Miller, Mariah Carey, and the Eurythmics lead the inductees for the 2022 Songwriters Hall of Fame (SHOF) on June 16th at Manhattan's Marriott Marquis Hotel.

Among the other inductees are the Isley Brothers, Rick Nowels, the Neptunes -- Chad Hugo & Pharrell, and legendary Motown songwriter Mickey Stevenson. Special Award Recipients include Paul Williams, who'll receive the prestigious Johnny Mercer Award, Universal Music Publishing Chairman and CEO, Jody Gerson will be awarded the Abe Olman Publisher Award, and singer/songwriter Lil Nas X will be given the Hal David Starlight Award.

Steve Miller told us that there's no great science as to why his music still receives so much radio airplay and crowd reaction in concert. Although Miller is considered a world-class blues guitarist, he says that it all comes down to the songs: "I think the reason my songs are still around is that they're simple on the first blush, they seem to be fairly simple tunes. There's a lot of harmony, a lot of harmony singing parts, and then when you go through the layers of the lyrics, they have meaning to people. And I think the main thing is that they're positive lyrics (laughs) and people like to sing."

Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox will also be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later this year. Stewart told us that the pair had a clear vision of the way they wanted to approach the Eurythmics' music from the get-go: "We were very adamant, y'know, about how we wanted to be. We wrote a manifesto on the wall in the studio. Y'know, we would write words like 'Motown,' and next to it we'd put, like 'Love.' But then we'd also put 'Cold. Icy. Electronic Music. Love,' thinking 'How the hell do we marry cold, icy electronic music with Motown?' But we managed."

Bruce Springsteen News Roundup

JAMMING IN JERSEY WITH COLDPLAY

Bruce Springsteen guested with Coldplay on June 5th at East Rutherford, New Jersey's MetLife Stadium.

"The Boss" -- along with a pedal steel guitarist named Nicole -- performed 2009's "Working On A Dream" with the band and his 1984 Top Two classic "Dancing In The Dark" alone with Chris Martin during the band's "C-stage" acoustic portion of the show.

NEW WEMBLEY RELEASED

Bruce Springsteen has tapped the E Street Band's June 4th, 1981 performance at London's Wembley Arena as his latest monthly vault release. The concert marks the seventh show released from Springsteen's 1980/'81 tour behind The River -- and the second gig plucked from the trek's six-night run at Wembley.

In addition to such Springsteen standards as "Born To Run," "Hungry Heart," and "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)," the new Wembley release features reworked cover versions of Jimmy Cliff's "Trapped," Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land," and Elvis Presley's "Follow That Dream."

Bruce Springsteen, who throughout the tour behind The River was becoming more politically minded and socially conscious, maintains that he was able to get a better grasp on what was happening back home in America and the lives of its citizens, by comparing the two cultures at the time: "It was the early-‘80s, I think the sense of the violence that was in the air on a daily basis (laughs) sometimes was. . . I think one of the things we noticed when we went to Europe was it just seemed less. Either it was reported differently, it was contextualized differently, it was a different type of violence, and I think that for me, personally, that was something that I really noticed at that time and made me very sad, actually. I was 30, having kids was on the horizon in some fashion. The way things went out to you, whether it was through television. . . it was just much more aggressive. Abusive. Truly abusive. I experienced less of that in Europe. It seemed to make more sense."

The tracklisting to Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band's London - June 4, 1981 is:

"Prove It All Night"
"The Ties That Bind"
"Out in The Street"
"Darkness On The Edge Of Town"
"Follow That Dream"
"Johnny Bye-Bye"
"Jackson Cage"
"Trapped"
"Two Hearts"
"The Promised Land"
"This Land Is Your Land"
"The River"
"Badlands"
"Thunder Road"
"You Can Look (But You Better Not Touch)"
"Cadillac Ranch"
"Sherry Darling"
"Hungry Heart"
"Fire"
"Because The Night"
"Racing In The Street"
"Backstreets"
"Ramrod"
"Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)"
"Jungleland"
"Born To Run"
"Detroit Medley"

Lady Gaga's 'Chromatica Ball Tour' Is Reportedly A Disaster

Lady Gaga's Chromatica Ball Tour is reportedly "an unhinged disaster."

A source revealed to Radar that the singer's team and Live Nation are "freaking out" over the drastically low ticket sales.

The insider told the outlet, "As of right now, the Chromatica Ball Tour is set to lose money." They added that most places are "only selling 40-50 percent of capacity.

The "Bad Romance" singer's tour is set to kick off in the U.S. at Nationals Park in Washington DC on August 8th.

Flashback: The Rolling Stones Release Debut Single

It was 59 years ago today (June 7th) that the Rolling Stones released their debut single -- a cover of Chuck Berry's "Come On" backed with Muddy Waters' Willie Dixon-written "I Want To Be Loved." Both tracks were recorded on May 10th, 1963 at London's Olympic Studios, produced by managers Andrew Loog Oldham and Eric Easton and engineered by Roger Savage.

"Come On" featured Mick Jagger on lead vocals, Keith Richards on guitar, Brian Jones on harmonica and backing vocals, Bill Wyman on bass and backing vocals, and Charlie Watts on drums. The song was a moderate hit, peaking at Number 21 on the British charts, and was played intermittently through 1965.

On June 6th, 2013 -- 50 years since recording the Chuck Berry obscurity, while performing on their "50 & Counting Tour" Mick Jagger tossed off a few lines of the song with the late-Charlie Watts tapping along a bit of rhythm after Jagger announced it was the song's golden anniversary.

Early fan Jimmy Page shed some light on the talents of the pure blues, pre-Rolling Stones Brian Jones: "Well, I first saw Brian Jones play in, I think it was the Railway Arms in Ealing, or Ealing Jazz Club. But I remember taking a sort of pilgrimage over there to see Alexis Korner's blues band, and (Brian) got up and played bottleneck (guitar) and he played some Elmore James, and I thought, 'Wow.' 'Cause I was listening to all of that stuff -- as were, y'know, what were a real serious minority of guitarists that were listening to this sort of stuff. And then I found out that he could play harp afterwards, as well, and he was playing pretty good harmonica. And bit by bit it unfolded into what a wonderful musician he was. I mean, he was a really fine musician."

Not too long ago, the sorely missed Charlie Watts explained that it never crossed his mind that the Rolling Stones would ever make it -- let along become rock's longest lasting rock bands: "No, every band I'd ever been in lasted a week. I mean, you only lasted as long as the guy in the club, or whatever, would book you for. So, y'know, if they didn't like you, y'know, it was two gigs and that was it. So I always thought it's gonna last a week, then a fortnight, and suddenly it's 30 years."

Quickies: Joe and Nick Jonas!

JOE JONAS REPORTEDLY CHANGES LYRICS ABOUT TAYLOR SWIFT: Joe Jonas has reportedly changed up some song lyrics that were once meant to shade ex-girlfriend, Taylor Swift. The two dated for approximately three months back in 2008 before Jonas dumped the "Cardigan" singer on the phone in 25 seconds. While Swift sang about the breakup in the song, "Forever and Always," fans always suspected that the lyrics "I get a rep for breakin' hearts / Now I'm done with superstars / And all the tears on her guitar / I'm not bitter" from the Jonas Brothers track, "Much Better," were directed at Swift. BuzzFeed reports that on Saturday (June 4th), during the Jonas Brothers residency in Las Vegas, Jonas showed he was "cool" with his ex by singing the updated lyrics, "I get a rep for breakin' hearts / Now I'm done with superstars / And all the tears on her guitar / I'm not bitter."

NICK JONAS INJURED PLAYING SOFTBALL: Nick Jonas was injured while playing softball Sunday (June 5th). According to Page Six, the Jonas Brothers singer was several innings into the game when he appeared to get hit in the groin with the ball. According to the outlet, Nick was taken to the emergency room by his brother, Kevin Jonas, after he nearly collapsed onto the field.

It's like kind of stitching bits together. But it's beautiful, it's touching." (Rolling Stone)

Happy Birthday, Tom Jones!!!

Happy Birthday to Tom Jones, who turns 82 today (June 7th)!!! Out now is Jones' 41st studio album, Surrounded By Time. The collection once again pairs the Welsh legend with producer Ethan Johns -- son of legendary Eric Clapton and Who producer Glyn Johns. The collection features Jones covering Bob Dylan's "One More Cup Of Coffee" and Cat Stevens' "Popstar."

A new song on the album, titled, "Talking Reality Television Blues," is directly based on Donald Trump.

Back on April 10th, 2016, Tom Jones' wife of 59 years, 75-year-old Linda Woodward, died in Los Angeles after a "short but fierce battle with cancer." Although unconfirmed, Jones has recently been linked with his old friend Elvis Presley's ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, despite representatives denying any romance.

Tom Jones first sprang on the charts with the 1965 Top 10 smash "It's Not Unusual," which led to his Best New Artist Grammy for that year. He went on to score hits with "What's New Pussycat?," "Thunderball," "Green, Green, Grass Of Home," "Delilah," "Help Yourself," "I'll Never Fall In Love Again," "Love Me Tonight," "Without Love (There Is Nothing)," and "She's A Lady," among others.

Tom Jones' 2015 studio set, Long Lost Suitcase, featured covers of the Rolling Stones' Beggars Banquet classic "Factory Girl," Hank Williams' "Why Don't You Love Me Like You Used To Do?," and the folk standard, "He Was A Friend Of Mine."

In 2012, Jones teamed up with Ethan Johns to record Spirit In The Room, which features his covers of Paul McCartney's "(I Want To) Come Home," Bob Dylan's "When The Deal Goes Down," Paul Simon's "Love And Blessings," Tom Waits' "Bad As Me," and Kenny Rogers & The First Edition's "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)."

In 2010 Jones and Johns first teamed up for Praise And Blame, which featured covers of Dylan's "What Good Am I" and John Lee Hooker's "Burning Hell."

Tom Jones says that unlike many other of his peers from the 1960's, he's always looked at his job as being strictly an entertainer: "I've always wanted to entertain people. I don't think you should remind people about the worries of their life. I mean, they could laugh or they could cry. Some of the songs are very sort of tender but that's about it. That's about what I try to do. I try to make people feel, y'know, feel good and to get them away from everyday life."

Jones credited his son and current manager Mark Woodward for saving him from becoming a Las Vegas caricature: "People are not taking you seriously. You are becoming a caricature of yourself. So that's. . . he made me aware of that. So I don't wear, y'know, my pants are not as tight anymore and I don't open my shirt as far and I don't pick up the underwear. Occasionally I do."

Tom Jones' career took on a whole new turn with his 1990 collaboration with Art Of Noise with their cover of Prince's "Kiss": "When I heard 'Kiss,' I thought, y'know, that's, like, it in a nutshell right there. Y'know, he's put 'you don't have to be this to turn me on, you don'y have to do. . . so all I want is your touch and your (sings riff) -- Kiss.' Y'know, I mean, it's like there's certain. . . It's ways of writing songs about certain things, but they have to have something that perks me up. Y'know, that says something to me. But the way -- y'know, the way that it's written, that's the thing."

Over the past 25 years or so, Tom Jones has shed most of his pop sensibilities and evolved into a dyed in the wool blues singer. We asked him if he made a choice of recording solely age-appropriate music: "Yes, it's to do with age -- there's no getting away from it. I've always sang it in the best way I know how. I put myself into it."

Tom Jones next performs on June 11th in Cork, Ireland at The Marquee.

Ringo Starr Receives Honorary Doctorate From Berklee College Of Music

Ringo Starr was on hand at Boston's Berklee College of Music on Thursday (June 2nd) to accept an honorary doctorate from the prestigious institution. Marca.com reported the students played a selection of Ringo's hits during the ceremony, before opening remarks by All Starr Band drummer Gregg Bissonette and Berklee President Erica Muhl.

Ringo spoke about being ill as a child in the hospital, when a drum was brought in for him to play while convalescing. He explained, "I just wanted to be a drummer from that moment on. It was my big dream and it's still unfolding. I get to play with great guys, like the band here. It's just a great life I lead."

Legendary producer Don Was, who first worked with Ringo during the sessions for the former-Beatle's 1992 Time Takes Time collection, told us that he always jumps at the chance to play with Ringo: "As a musician, when you finally get to play music with him, it's one of the most distinctive feels, y'know? His feel is just, it's such a unique fingerprint of where to lay the beat and where to play it. And, like, in the first few minutes of the first few songs, I thought, 'Oh man! You couldn't have had those Beatles records without this guy.' There's a musical personality that's so strong. I think he's one of the great rock n' roll drummers of all time."

Ringo told us that his ultimate goal has always to be a working drummer playing with top musicians: "It's playing with a band, always has been with me. Playing drums, playing with good players, playing to an audience -- it's still the best. There's certain nights when, where the band are all together, and the audience are all together, it's such an uplifting situation. That's the drug of it all -- y'know, it's like you just sail away. It's great."

Def Leppard Still Believes In The Art Of Albums

Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott says the band still believes in the art of the long form, full-album format. Blabbermouth reported that Elliott spoke in depth about the band in the current issue of Rock Candy magazine and explained why creating full-length LP's still works for the band and its fans: "When we got together in 2014 we noticed a trend of people releasing one song a month. They might bang them all together on an album two years later. Other people were just doing EP's."

Elliott went on to explain, "Maybe for a younger generation, an album isn't important, because they didn't grow up when it was. But we did. We grew up in the era of (The Rise And Fall Of) Ziggy Stardust (And The Spiders From Mars), (The) Dark Side Of The Moon, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road -- the greatest double album of all time, in my humble opinion. That's where we come from. You can't unscramble an egg. We invested in laying on the bed and looking at the sleeve, reading every word."

Joe Elliott, who's thrilled with the reaction Leppard's new album Diamond Star Halos has received, remains realistic about presenting new music in concert: "I don't think many legacy artists perform new music. We do. We play new stuff, but it's horses for courses. Leppard fans want 'Photograph.' They want 'Pour Some Sugar. . .' Only a fool goes, 'I'm gonna play you my entire new album.' Anyone who goes, 'Here are 12 songs from my new album' is going to clear the dance floor. Don't batter people with the new s***. If it's good enough, let it become part of the set further down the road."

We caught up with Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen who's celebrating his 40th year as an integral part of the Rock Hall inductees: "It just flies by. I know more than I did the day before and we, we kind of take that approach with the band. It's like, y'know, I honestly think so many artists and bands don't reach their full potential, 'cause they actually give up before that happens. And I think will all that experience and everything that we've had in 40-odd-years, if you can apply that moving forward, then you're way ahead of the game than anyone else because they never get to reach that magical period."

Paul McCartney's Glastonbury Set To Be Televised

Paul McCartney's Glastonbury Festival performance on June 25th will be broadcast by the BBC One. Musicweek.com reported that the "Beeb" will also televise sets by Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, and Diana Ross, who'll perform in the "Legends" slot.

McCartney's 2020 Glastonbury spot was scrapped due to Covid. The former-Beatle first headlined the festival back in 2004.

The core of Paul McCartney's current band -- guitarist Rusty Anderson and drummer Abe Laboriel Jr. -- began playing with McCartney back in 2001 in Los Angeles and now hold the distinction of being the longest and most stable lineup of any of his bands: "I worked with those two guys during the Driving Rain album and loved working with them. We did a couple of little things and then we did the Super Bowl with Brian (Ray), who was sort of our final member -- and Wix, who's from my old band. And it just seemed a good little group of people. Y'know, the attitude seemed great, y'know, we all seemed to like each other -- which is always a little bit of a plus. It just felt very good. So, we got into rehearsal, and it just started from there. And the tour just built and built, and now we consider ourselves not a bad little band."
